CAVALIERS INSIDER
Memories of playoff victory still linger for Cavs' James

Thursday, November 29, 2007 Branson Wright

Plain Dealer Reporter
Auburn Hills, Mich.- The last time LeBron James was at The Palace of Auburn Hills, he had one of the most impressive games in playoff history. That's when James scored 48 points (in cluding 25 straight) to lead the Cavs to a Game 5 victory in the Eastern Conference Finals. James said it was his proudest moment in the NBA.
"It was because of what had happened to us the year before [a seven-game loss to the Pistons]," James said. "We knew in order for us to advance we had to beat [Detroit]. We did a great job of not getting down [any further] in the series - being down 0-2 - and winning four straight games against a very tough team is pretty good."
Winning the series was also the proudest moment for Mike Brown as a coach.

MRI confirms James has sprained finger

ESPN.com news services

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has a sprained left index finger and is day to day, the team said Thursday.

James underwent an MRI at the Cleveland Clinic in Toronto, which confirmed the sprain. The team said he will be a game-time decision for Friday night's game in Toronto against the Raptors.
James hurt his finger in the second quarter of Wednesday's 109-74 loss to Detroit. He did not respond to a few questions as he walked to the team bus after the game carrying a pizza.
He returned to Cleveland's bench late in the third quarter, sporting a suit and turtleneck, with tape wrapped around his index and middle fingers on his non-shooting hand. Late in the half, ice was packed and wrapped briefly over his left hand.

Is he playing? We gotta go get back first. I hate me some Detriot.

Lebron is out, but so is Bosh so there isn't an excuse to be playing this bad. They were down by 20 when i started watching. There is no excuse for Boobie not shooting at least 10-15 3's every game. The kid is amazing.

Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, pressured by Andrea Bargnani, took only seven shots.

TORONTO -- With LeBron James and Chris Bosh out nursing injuries, Andrea Bargnani and Carlos Delfino did their best to fill the stars' void.
Unfortunately for the Cleveland Cavaliers, both play for the Toronto Raptors
Bargnani and Delfino set career highs with 26 and 24 points each, and the Raptors won their third straight game last night, 91-82.

TORONTO: LeBron James could have played against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, but the decision was not his.
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown decided about an hour beforetipoff that James would sit as he recovers from a sprain of his left index finger suffered Wednesday night in Detroit.
James' uniform was in his locker at the Air Canada Centre and his shoes were placed on the floor, ready for him to use. Brown put up the stop sign in the training room.

Just read on Hoopshype that Charlotte has signed Varejeo to an offer sheet. No money details but the Cavs have a week to match. Just a guess, but I have a feeling it's no where near the 10mil per he was looking for.

If this is the case... then Charlotte has shown itself as a friend of the Cavs... and this could be a move by all parties to save face... Cavs match the offer... everything fixed...

I do have some reservations... Charlotte is the lowest team salary in the NBA so they have significant cap space.. and the three year contract gives AV the option to be a free agent after year TWO !!! that's not good...

From Charlotte.com:
The Bobcats figure to be offering the mid-level exception, which represents a first-year salary of $5.36 million this season. A player signing for the mid-level must sign for a minimum of three years, but the player can get an opt-out, making him an unrestricted free agent after two seasons.
If the Cavs match, that precludes the Bobcats and Cavs from doing a sign-and-trade that would exchange Varejao for Charlotte players. Cleveland general manager Danny Ferry has made it clear he intends to match offers for Varejao and a 3-year, mid-level deal actually represents less than the best offer the Cavaliers have made (at least 3 seasons with a total value in excess of $20 million, with no opt-out for the player).

With all th bad contracts, I can certainly live with 2 years, 10-11 mil. That gives Simmons time to develop. If he wants to bolt after that, then good bye.

edit: comfirmed. 2 years 11.3 mil with player option for year 3 at 6mil or a little more. The Cavs offered him more. He screwed up. Either way, the team will have alot of money off the books at the end of the '08 season.

This is the thing that makes me so mad about this situation...Brown obviously has potential, and while when in some games he has struggled, but there is no reason to leave him on the bench and not play him...It is not like he is totally uncapable of making an impact...

He is athletic, is a streaky shooter, but has range, can play defense...I am not saying to play him 30 minutes/game or anything, but there is no reason for him not to be playing about 10 minutes or so a game an d maybe a times he could bring spark when things are looking bleak...

Just boggles my mind...
