Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Good win last night for the Cavs even tho LBJ had to do much of the damage on offense...

Bobbie came back down to earth shooting the ball as he actually missed some shots...

I would still like to see Shannon Brown get minutes over Ira Newble...

I prefer Ira Newble.

Both aren't going to get us points, and Newble is the better, more versatile defender.

and isn't going to try to shoot as much as Brown. Brown tries to do too much on offense when he is out there. Whether they say it or not when they declined Browns option they gave up on him. What's the point of giving him minutes since he'll walk at the end if the season? I say trade them both.

Varejao close to 'giving up' on Cavs?

Spanish newspaper Marca last week quoted a source close to Anderson Varejao as saying he is close to 'giving up' signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.
What that means isn't clear, whether he'll follow through with threats to sit out the season or sign to play in Europe. Either way, the Cavs maintain his rights next summer.
Varejao's decision to delay signing could end up costing him money even if he eventually comes to terms with the Cavs. The team could pro-rate the contract and dock him pay for missing games. If he were to sign for the roughly $6 million the Cavs are believed to have on the table for this season, he technically would already be out about $920,000, which is about what he made all last season.

Andy is stupid if he sits out the whole year since the Cavs will still own him next year. He is already getting some really bad advice for not taking a 6 mil for 3 years type of deal like Gooden got. Nobody is going to pay him enough to make up for the 6 million that he is losing this season. If I were the Cavs I would make Cedric Simmons watch nothing but Varejao film and try to get him to fill Andy's shoes. Simmons is nearly the same dimensions as Andy, but he has a ton more athletic ability as shown by a couple of the rejections that he has had. I don't see Andy getting more than 7 mil a year if he was a FA and most of the teams don't have any salary cap space to spend more than 5 or 6 a year for a player.

I wish we could sign him just so we could trade him. He is a big part of this team, as a bench player but we have played without him before. Ced Simmons has a high ceiling and he is still recovering from an ankle injury. He could easily fill Varejao's shoes soon rather than later.

Just couldn't stop the Bucks when we needed too...

I know I will get it from you guys, but dare I say we miss Larry...

I mean Newble and Jones are not guys that should see the court...

The big difference is, when Newble got 26 minutes, he only shot once. If Hughes got those minutes, he's chucking up 16 shots and hitting 4 or 5 of them, taking shots away from the people that actually should be taking them.

They actually played decent, but like you said, they couldn't stop the Bucks whenit mattered. The Bucks also took like 17 more free throws. They were driving and drawing fouls all night and got into the bonus early in the final 2 quarters. The Cavs need to drive to the hoop more. Gibby did that last night and he looked great. LBJ played good as well.

Pavlovic is still the weak link of the starters. He plays too out of control with the ball in his hands.

We'll see how they respond tonight in Minnesota (at least until 9:00 when the Buckeyes come on).

you will get it because it's a dumb statement. the difference would have been that hughes would have jumped a passing lane and gotten a steal, but provided far less offense than devin brown or sasha. hughes is trash pure and simple.

the problem is that drew gooden may actually be legally retarded. it's amazing he's made it this far in life being as dumb as he is. sasha missing all of camp and preseason shows. he looks terrible. he's hughes-esque whenever he drives to the basket.

the next time damon jones plays defense will be the first.

that being said, mo williams was chucking up prayers all night that were falling, and chumps like no-brows villenueva were banking in 3's with 4 seconds left on the shot clock.

LeBron James of the Cavaliers goes to the basket over Desmond Mason of the Bucks in the second quarter. James scored 34 points.

CLEVELAND -- The Milwaukee Bucks are 1 for LeBron.
Michael Redd scored a season-high 34 points, Mo Williams added 20 and the Bucks ended a seven-game losing streak against Cleveland with their first road win, 111-107 over the Cavaliers last night.
The Bucks hadn't beaten the Cavs since Dec. 10, 2005. They also snapped an eight-game losing streak in Cleveland, where they had been winless since Jan. 6, 2003 -- the season before LeBron James arrived.
