Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

True. The spree that gave Snow and Newble that big money is also strangling.

I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Ferry can find someone to take Hughes.

The Shannon Brown choice is not a big suprise. Sure, he can jump but his shooting has sucked everytime I've watched him.

The thing this team needs is a good draft pick to develop a good player. Stop trading away first rounders for a bucket of shit.

Yep. we have to face facts...aside from LBJ falling into our laps, there haven't been a whole lot of smart moves (Jiri Welsch, DJ, Newble, etc., etc., etc...). Ferry has time and isn't responsible for most of that, but he's kinda handcuffed and the clock on LBJ is ticking. If LeBron leaves, stick a fork in this franchise.

Why the fuck are they giving up on Brown...

If Mike Brown would give the kid a fuckin' chance...

6 minutes of 0'fer shooting and 2 t.o.'s was all they needed. he was also said to be poor in summer ball, despite putting up points.

as for the spending spree, you do realize that Ferry is paying the same for Drew Gooden as he is forced to pay for Eric Snow. that's how ludicrous snow's contract is.

Sasha got resigned for an annual salary that is the same as what Cleveland is currently paying Newble.

Nobody could have known that Larry Hughes would be this bad. It's inconceivable.

Hopefully there are some trades to free up salary during the season.

They haven't given up on him Ferry says they will reevaluate him at the end of season. Its not like they couldn't resign him at the end of this year.

True, but he'll be unrestricted and is already pissed at them for not picking it up.

Cavs look good. Interior defense is going to be a big issue all season long, even if/when we get Andy back.

I also agree with not extending Shannon Brown at this point in time. He hasn't shown anything. I think he peaked his sophomore year. He's basically a 6'2" Dejuan Wagner. Great athlete, way below average basketball player.

LeBron sets tone for Cavs
Saturday, November 3, 2007
BY Chris Beaven
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

CLEVELAND When LeBron James delivers a pregame promise, look out.

?We?ll be a totally different team tonight. I promise that,? James said about an hour before the Cavaliers hosted the New York Knights on Friday night.

Several hours later, James didn?t need to say ?I told you so.?

His 45 points along with Daniel Gibson?s 24 said it all in a 110-106 win in front of 20,562 at Quicken Loans Arena.

James came out with a sense of purpose, played aggressively throughout and the entire team followed.

?I don?t think that I played with the energy I know I can play with on Wednesday (in the opener),? said James, who had just 10 points in the loss to Dallas. ?And I came out with a lot of energy.?

CAVALIERS NOTEBOOK
CHRIS BEAVEN

CLEVELAND The wait for Sasha Pavlovic?s return ends today.

He is expected to practice after a four-day journey from his native Montenegro to Cleveland. He arrived during Friday?s game against the New York Knicks.

It was his second in-game arrival of the week. He initially got into Cleveland on Wednesday during the opener before heading back out of state during much of the next two days to get his work visas in the U.S. and Canada.

The team came to terms with the restricted free agent Tuesday, ending a contract dispute that cost him all of training camp.

LEBRON IS BACK
Forward scores 45 for big win before Cavs' trip out West
By Brian Windhorst Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND: As they've wheezed to start the season, there has been much more focus on what the Cavaliers don't have than what they do.
That would be LeBron James.
After a lethargic performance in the troubling season-opening loss earlier this week, James more than balanced the scales with a massive performance against the New York Knicks on Friday. He seemed to triple his aggression on offense and his teammates, especially developing sidekick Daniel Gibson, benefited as the Cavs scored an important 110-106 win.
James scored 45 points, the most since April 1, 2006, with seven rebounds and seven assists to carry the Cavs (1-1). Those numbers are impressive enough but hold even more weight considering it was somewhat of a pivotal early-season game as the team heads west today to start a six-game road trip.

We may complain about the role players, but I think the more LBJ does the more it opens up for the other guys, so when he only puts up 10 pts I don't see us winning many games...I like to see LBJ in that 30 pt range, much like MJ with the Bulls...

And LBJ needs to be able to say this is my time, and realize that he has to force the issue at times...i think that is the way that he takes his game to the next level...
