Pavlovic ends holdout, agrees to three-year deal with Cavs
By Chad Ford
ESPN.com

The Cleveland Cavaliers and restricted free agent Sasha Pavlovic have agreed to a three-year deal, Pavlovic's agent Marc Cornstein told ESPN.com. Cornstein refused to give the numbers on the contract. "Sasha is very excited to be returning to the Cavs," Cornstein said. "I believe he can help the Cavs build on the success they had last year." The two sides had been at a standstill for much of the summer. Cornstein said that there was little movement until the last few days when Cleveland began to put a more serious offer on the table.

I'm happy he signed but I sure hope they didn't overpay to do it.

I'd venture to guess that both sides caved a little. But ultimately this was more important than AV. The Cavs needed someone to put points on the board, and Sasha will continue to get better in that aspect of the game. He's far more reliable at this point than, say, Larry Hughes.

For now, the Cavaliers seem willing to move on. The club isn't willing to destroy future salary-cap room with two deals that could impact them for years.

This was the quote from the dispatch article...And with the signing of Sasha I hope they stuck to their guns here...I am sure we will know the figures soon enough...But Paxson killed us with the overpaying of guys like Hughes, but Ferry realizes that guys like Sasha and Andy are solid players, but not guys you over pay for if you want to win a championship...

I like the fact that even tho we made the finals last year, we are coming into the season under the radar...That should give us a chip on our shoulder and a little motivation...

I am really looking for a big year out of LBJ, and I like all the talk about how he worked on his offensive game in the offseason...

Should be another good year...I am looking for another 50 win season...

Also nice to see that East is going to get some respect this season...

ferry signed hughes, not paxson.
ferry was saddled with the contracts of eric snow and ira newble (5 years $15 million, seriously?), and no 1st round '07 draft pick.

Z is signed to a reasonable deal. Marshall's deal isn't that bad. Damon Jones' was a little steep.

Gooden was resigned for market value.
the only move ferry made that was questionable was hughes, which was a result of pressure to add a big name, and redd, allen and johnson all telling cleveland no.

BTW, Michael Redd, how's Milwaukee these days?

I'll have to disagree with you here. AV is much more important. He the teams best defender and rebounder. They have LBJ, Z, Gooden and now Gibby for offense. Boston had their way inside against the Cavs in the last preseason game. That doesn't happen with AV in the game.

While Sasha is a decent player, he's still inconsistent offensively and lacking defensively.

Regardless of which player contributes more, they're both needed, so AV better wake up and realize he's not getting 10Mil from anyone and needs to report.

Both certainly play their roles well. But without Sasha, Gibby is the only consistent outside threat. That's not good for Drew, Z, or Lebron if they want to rack up points in the paint.

The regular season is about offense and lazy defense. The playoffs are about defense. For now, we can survive without AV. Come playoff time, he better be back.

True there.

ESPN Page 2 - The Sports Guy: Time for a quick NBA fix

So Bill Simmons doesn't think the Cavs make the playoffs. Instead, the team led by the best player in the conference will be out, while Atlanta, Milwaukee and Indiana will be in.

Wait, he's actually saying the Cavs will be the worst team in their division. :slappy:

That's the kind of limb you just don't go out on... because you better be right, or you have no credibility - not as if that douchebag had any credibility to begin with. He's the same dick that ripped on Oden all year long, called him a bust, while sucking on Durant's cock (saying he's the best thing to come into the NBA since Jordan). Then when we found out Oden would need microfracture surgery, he promptly (that same day) put up a new column patting himself on the back.

4-5 million is what I've heard, and that's about as fair a deal you'll see in the NBA.

I also echo the statement that Sasha is more important right now than Andy. I think Andy brings more to the table late in the season. Right now thought, we need scoring, and Sasha hopefully will bring a lot more than Andy will/would.

Not good to see everyone besides Z and to a lesser amount Gooden have a bad first game. Hughes has looked worse than ever. Maybe it's good that Pav signed because they need to get Hughes out of the lineup. His one good game out of 10 isn't going to cut it.
