Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Well I guess Larry was banged up tonite and not just takin' out of the starting lineup...

I know most of us are always down on Larry, and for whatever reason he doesnt seem to be able to string together shots...I really don't think he is that bad of a shooter, or he obviously wouldn't be shooting that much and the staff would take him out...I think a lot of it is mental...I think that he is a big part of our team, and if we want to go somewhere we need him...I get upset with alot of his shots, but while many hate his contract, it is what it is, and he does make our team better...

If we can shoot the ball well like we did tonite we are very tough to beat...I really don't have any problem giving DJ meaningful minutes, as long as teams are taking advantage of him on D everytime down the court, and he is hitting shots like he has...

I also think that with Sasha back our backcourt is very solid with Boobie, Hughes, Brown, Sasha, DJ. I would still like to see shannon, but it just seems that they are goign to give up on him...

The thing that really upsets me about that is the kid is in his second year, we saw what happened last year with Boobie after Brown finally gave him pt, not saying the same thing is going to happen with Shannon, but I think he brings a different type of game to the court, and think that he can only help us, and at this point he is cheap, and if we coudl develop him we might also be able to package him in a deal, instead of just letting him ride the pine and not see the court, at least get him time in the D league or something...

Let's see. Gibby shoots 12 and 14 times in the 2 wins and averages 23 points. In the 2 losses, he shoots 6 and 5 times and averages 7 points. Shoot the ball more and maybe Hughes will shoot the ball less.

More Gibson, less Hughes.

The only role I can see Larry being successful in with this team is a spark plug off the bench. Let him come in for five minutes each half and play with reckless abandon. Maybe he'll start driving and drawing fouls. He isn't and will never be a jump shooter. He's not a good distributor of the ball. He needs to relearn how to attack the basket effectively and consistently. That's the only way he's valuable to this team offensively any more.

I do like the starting lineup from last night. It's nice having 5 guys that can all score on a regular basis. Damon Jones seems to be shooting better than at any point of his Cavs career now. I doubt they will do it, but I like the idea of Hughes coming off the bench. I just don't see them putting their first or second highest paid player on the bench even if it's to the detriment of the team. If Hughes lost his starting spot he would probably go in the tank even more than he has been.

It isnt like he is my favorite player, by any means, but last year we don't go where we did with out Hughes...You may not like him, and if we could get something solid in return I would be all for moving him, but while he is on the team, he helps the team more being on the floor than hurt and sitting on the bench...

You can add tonight to the tally, 5 shots in 37 minutes (made 4, 3-4 beyond the arc) and a loss. It ain't rocket science. Then again, Mike Brown isn't exactly a rocket scientist.

Would also help if Lebron could do better than 7-15 on the freebies.:2004:

Overall I thought that we played well last night in Utah against a top 5 team in the league...

I think we are behind the 8 ball due to not making moves, and with Sasha just getting back in the fold...It is like the first 10 games are so are going to be preseason types for us as they get back into the flow of playing with each other again...

I also agree that Boobie needs to be more assertive...

LeBron needs to feed Gibby more. He (LBJ) still has a tendency to take some bad shots, especially his attempts from beyond the arc. Gibby was open many times in the 4th when LB was looking to shoot first.

You CANNOT have your best shooter take the lowest number of shots for the team in the game. They had 7 players shoot the ball last night and Gibby took the least amount of shots: 5 !! That shit has to change.

I did notice last night that Gibby is driving more to the hole, then dishing to the open player. Of course, the assholes are missing the shots.

Correct, I shoot myself everytime I see him take a rediculous shot, that God himself, couldn't make. D Gib is amazing from three, he also has proved this year, he can make the money shot, with under 5 ticks to go. Now that Boobie has renewed confidence, we need to get him the ball.

Lebron coming up big in the final minutes again tonight to lead to a nice win in Sacramento 93-91. He was possessed in the last two minutes.

Also, Z has been a monster on the boards so far this season.

Again, why doesn't LeBron get that aggressive in the early parts of games? He scores the last 7 poin ts for the Cavs, in cruch time, yet recludes himself to a passer and opportunistic scorer

I really think it'd help this team if LeBron went Kobe and decided to get to the hoop as much as possible

Mind you, I'm not talking about his 20 foot pull up jumpers, but when he wants to get to the rim and create he can, I just don't see why he doesn't try and get there every time down the floor
