Cavs 06-07 season thread

Someone tell me they checked out Mike Brown's press conference...:!

Paging Mike Brown...

I am still lost for words, but I am going to try and spin this in a positive light, b/c that is what I do...

Guys we played as bad as we could play, besides LBJ...I understand Miami didnt play well and if they would of they would of beat us by 20, but the thing is that playing a piss poor game we were there in the end...

What is holding us back besides the stupid ass coach? Teams are making up schemes to contain LBJ, the thing is we need him off the ball, if he has the ball he gets doubled, why not on the the last play get the ball in bounds, get him the ball off a screen with about 6 seconds, get him a screen for a screen and roll and go from there, or better yet, don't call the timeout and just let them play it out b4 they have a chance to set their D...All these are things that Mr. Brown should be contemplating tonite, he should also be contemplating where he is going to be coaching next year...

The thing is that we have all of a sudden forgot how to shoot the basketball...Open shots arent going down and that is when the Cavs really struggle, which leads me to believe that we need more in transistion for some easy buckets...

I did read that LBJ was pissed after the game and kicked a chair...Maybe he can get the team to play with a little fire b/c Mr. Potato head sure aint doing any inspiring for the team...Hopefully they come out tomm nite against a depleted Wizards team and kick their ass...

Also keep in mind that we are tied with the Bulls while they are playing good, they are a pretty young team and could start to feel the pressure and lose a game or two they shouldnt...There is still hope for the 2 seed...

Also if we get Miami in the first and Detroit in the 2nd there isnt anyway we make it to where we are all hopin' we make it...If we can get Toronto in the first and then Detroit in the 2nd then we might have a shot, but to go with Miami and then get Detroit right after that, that is some tough sleddin'...

Either way the magic numbers all stayed the same...

BTW I won't be able to take another year of Mike Brown as the coach...

mike brown is a doltbag. his biggest problem is that he reacts to what teams are doing to cleveland, instead of having cleveland enforce its will on other teams. IMO, that's the mark of a coach that lacks a good strategy offensively.

cleveland needs to make up its mind. they want to run an uptempo sort of offense, but try to do so with plodding Z, and Drew Gooden who very well may be borderline retarded, or at least have some sort of basketball ADD. This season is a clear indicator as to why Gooden didn't have bigger prospective offers in FA. He's a half-Sweed dumbass.

finally, cleveland's talent level just isn't that good. Z is old and slow. Gooden is only worthwhile for about 6 minutes a game then goes bat-shit stupid for the remainder of the time. AV doesn't have a refined enough offensive game yet. DJ-LOL. Gibson is just a rookie. hughes is a bum, as is eric snow. sasha is still inconsistent.

But with all that being said, each of these guys is good enough at some individual things that if used properly, the team can be quite formidable. But, you see the obvious problem in that statement.

Cavs? big comeback runs out of gas late
Outscoring Heat 27-14 in fourth saps team?s energy

</IMG> MARK DUNCAN ASSOCIATED PRESS The Cavaliers? Zydrunas Ilgauskas, right, hounds the Heat?s Shaquille O?Neal down low, but O?Neal still scored 20 points.

CLEVELAND ? The mission for the Cavaliers last night was clear.
They had to beat the Miami Heat without Dwyane Wade (dislocated shoulder) so they wouldn?t have to face the Heat with Wade in the postseason.
The goal was reasonable, but the Cavaliers couldn?t pull it off, losing 98-94 in overtime in Quicken Loans Arena. With the victory, Miami (41-34) clinched a playoff spot and currently has the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland (45-31) fell from second to fifth with two weeks remaining in the regular season, which would set up a grueling playoff series between these two teams.

Cavaliers game day

LeBron, Hughes, Z to rest, not practice

Brown's decision comes because Cavs need wins

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - A year ago at this time, the Cavaliers were entrenched in the No. 4 playoff position and were able to shut down some of their top players in the season's final 10 days in preparation for the playoffs.
This year, in a tight race all around, that move is a luxury the Cavs cannot afford.
That's why coach Mike Brown said Thursday he has decided he will try to find extra recovery time for LeBron James, Larry Hughes and Zydrunas Ilgauskas by holding them out of practices for the rest of the regular season.
``You'd like to get the guys as much rest as possible,'' Brown said. ``If we can afford to rest them, we will, but we are in a position where we need to win every game.''

You guys are giving up to quickly, if you looked ahead, if Chicago got past the Pistons, everyone knew the odds would slightly favor Chicago to get the 2 seed.

I think most Cavs fans would have had them going 1-1 vs. the heat and the wizards. While it is true you had a chance at a nice comeback, the heat are returning champions. Besides your game tonight, which was once a tough one, should be a pretty easy win without Arenas or Butler.

I don't know if there is an easy win for the Cavs the way they are playing.

...but it's not. Trailing in the 4th. Still settling for jumpers. This team will be out of the playoffs in the first round if they continue to play this way. Unfortunately, that may be the best thing in the long run, as it could hopefully precipitate a coaching change.

Hopefully the coaching change will come regardless.

Well, they finally started to get aggressive the last couple minutes, driving and drawing fouls. Now, if somebody could explain to Mike Brown that you're actually allowed to do that the whole game, we might not be struggling against a Wizards team without their star player, or the Celtics, Bobcats and Knicks.

in the postgame conference last night brown called out LBJ for not running what was called on the final play of the game. it's not out of the realm of possibility that it was a one time occurrance.

He said I don't know what LBJ saw, basically blaming it on LBJ, butit was a stupid call...

Even Austin Carr tonite was saying one time when they got the ball to LBJ on the wing, that is where he should of got it with about 5 seconds left to go so he could make a move right away so the defense wouldnt have time to set up and basically play a 3 man zone on LBJ...

I mean the whole world knew was coming, maybe if Brown would mix it up, that wouldnt be the case...Maybe he is saving something for the playoffs???

As for tonite it wasnt a great game, but we got the win, I am kinda glad I didnt have time to watch it all...

We have the Pistons and the Bulls play @ Toronto...

That could be the biggest day of our season, we really need that win and hopefully the Bulls could trip up...

If not it would actually improve Miami's chances of getting the 3 so we would then face Toronto in the first round...

the problem with the play still remained that when they doubled on him. everyone still stood there and nobody rotated to get open. i highly doubt that the play on the greaseboard had 4 stationary x's on it.

as for last night, vintage cavs. stupid and lazy play for about 3 quarters. mike brown did rip drew gooden a new asshole during one timeout, which is better than his patented dear in headlights look.

what these assclowns don't realize is that they aren't good enough to give inconsistent effort and expect to just turn it on whenever they need to win. that mentality is going to land them as a 5 seed, hopefully against a struggling toronto.
