Cavs 06-07 season thread

yawn. his 6-16, 4 of which were layups really propelled the cavs tonight. your unwaivering defense of his piss-poor play is getting a little over the top. funny that the cavs made their run in the 4th quarter where hughes didn't attempt one shot. no LBJ coupled with poor play from pavs and the typical drew gooden bipolarism is what hurt cleveland.

Yeah his 12-12 from the line sucked...He was taking the ball to the rack and getting fouled, and if you can honestly tell me without him out there today that we would of even been in this game I am curious to know how we would of done that...

Boobie is my favorite player, but right now he is not playing that well, he is not hitting his open shots and really struggling all the way around...

Shannon Brown looked lost early in the game when he started...

Sasha was 1-8 in the first half and was really struggling, Snow hit a shot at the end of the first quarter that given 20 times he probably makes 2 if he is lucky...

I understand that it is a team effort, and we are not near the team we are with LBJ on the court, but I guess I don't understand why me saying that we need Larry to be on the team to be successful is over the top...

I guess I should just leave it all to you, since I don't know what I am talking about when we make a move to put a guy at the point and we all of a sudden start playing our best basketball and know he is putting up games of 20 points, but he is playing piss poor...I guess everyone on the team plays piss poor game unless they shoot 80% and scores 40 pts/game...:!

hyperbole at its finest. shoot enough times at 38% and you fill up a stat sheet, which is apparently your basis for good play. hughes moving to pg simply happened to coincide with lebron going on a hot streak and pavs playing well. it's your position that it happened because hughes moved to pg. however, as the last 8-10 games have shown, it was mere coincidence. Z could run the point, and the team would still hinge on how well lebron plays. that's the bottom line. hughes is a liability offensively, don't let a glimmer of respectable ft shooting fool you. he is also nowhere near as effective defensively against pg's. however, he's so rotten as a 2 guard, his better defense at that spot isn't worth the move.

I guess we will just agree to disagree...

Magic Numbers as of games on Tuesday 4/3...

Detroit - 11
Chicago - 7
Toronto -4
Miami - 3
Wash - 3

With just 7 games left, we are still in a dog fight for that 2 spot especially since Chicago holds the tiebreaker against us...

I guess we have to be Pistons fans tommorrow night...

Well that didn't work. Hopefully that is more of a sign that the wheels are falling off for the Pistons rather than the Bulls being that good. I guess we'll find out on Sunday. I predict that if the Cavs can take the next 3 games they will be able to hold off the Bulls. If not they are going to be in the 5 seed.

From this webpage it looks like the Cavs hold the tiebreaker over the Bulls which would help.

edit- reading the rules it seems that the Bulls would own the tiebreaker.

No they have the tiebreaker, b/c we are 2-2 head to head and then it goes to division record in which they have a better record than us...

Unless we finish tied with them for that then they have a better conference record as well...

It would really suck if we got stuck in the 5 seed...But my question is would we get homecourt advantage over the 4 seed b/c we have a better record...

If we are going to piss around and get the 5 seed I would want to see Toronto in the first round and not Miami...Then we would get Detroit again in the second round, and probably either Chicago or Miami in the finals if we make it past Detroit...

It would be such a waste of a season tho as we have been in that 2 hole all year, and now we are going to piss around and loss it...:!

At least the Washington game isnt looking like as big of a test with them having Butler out and maybe Arenas not at 100%...

Our next 3 is a huge stretch and hopefully the guys realize that and come out to play...

Detroit - 10
Chicago - 7
Toronto -4
Miami - 3
Wash - 2

Yes, they just changed that rule so the better record always gets home court, regardless of the 'seeding'.

Utah and Houston are in a battle for home court in the 4/5 situation out West. Utah has clinched their division, but will only get home court in the first round if they end up with a better record/tiebreaker than Houston.

Hughes' bonus requires 4 wins

He pockets $2 million if Cavs get 49 victories

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

Not that any Cavalier needs extra motivation at this time of year -- the playoff race is in full bloom, and back-to-the-wall days are approaching soon -- but expect Larry Hughes to be especially locked in over the last two weeks of the regular season.
Hughes is close to aseven-figure bonus in his contract, but he'll need his teammates' help to get there. The deal Hughes signed in the summer of 2005 includes a $2 million payout if the Cavs reach 49 wins this season.
The victory Tuesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves put the Cavs' record at 45-30, with seven games to play.

With Arenas out for the rest of the season the Wizards down look like anywhere near the same type of threat.
If the Cavs do happen to drop to the 5 spot I really hope that the Heat pick it up and beat out the Raptors for the 3rd. I would hate to have to play the Heat/Pistons/Bulls if the Cavs were able to win those series.

Game's about to start on TNT. Cavs should be able to win this one, even though it's against the Heat b/c it's at home and the Heat are still w/o Wade. Then again, I didn't think the Cavs would have trouble beating the Nuggets at home recently either.
