Cavs 06-07 season thread

Larry Hughes is getting paid more than he's worth, but he earned my respect last night. He played effective defense while hobbling around the court.

For game 5, Gibson will get more minutes, since he's earned them and Hughes's heel will proabably be no better than last night. Detroit will try to post Billups up on Gibson, where he'll be able to score consistently unless he's double-teamed. How the Cavs handle Billups in the post will be a big factor.

Well they went with LBJ on him, and then put Boobie on Rip and put Sasha on Prince...

Great matchups for us IMO, b/c Billups isnt going to post up LBJ, Boobie has the quickness to run with Rip, and with Prince struggling we are able to play Sasha on him and use his stregth to keep him out of his comfort zone on the block...

I didn't mean to imply that the post-up was because of a defensive choice. The Pistons will set picks to get switches in order to take advantage of Billups's post-up ability on a smaller guard. That's why I said "Detroit will try to post Billups up ..."

Hopefully Hughes will be able to continue to get shots and play the first 10 minutes or so of every game. If it's just about pain and there is little risk of greater injury I think this will be good for him and the team. Gibson played 35 minutes last night and I don't want him to play much more than that out of fear that he will get worn down. Hughes seemed to get around ok in the 1st quarter, but it is clear that once he sits down he needs to stay on the bench. If Hughes ever ends up not being able to play I would like to see Shannon Brown get a few minutes to see if he can do anything. The biggest problem right now is that Gibson is the only viable PG if Hughes is out. Snow can bring the ball up, but having him on the floor kills the offense. Damon Jones is so slow on D that he can't do anything against Detroit's guards. Anyone know if David Wesley is back with the team?

Yeah, but I was just pointing out that the reason why Billups was non existant late was they put LBJ on him...

I agree, and Billups was eating DJ up, that is when he really scored alot of his point...

As for Wesley and Brown they have been sitting in street clothes, along with Dwayne Jones...

We could also go to Newble if we have to...

The only problem about going with Newble is that Lebron would have to play Point Forward. That would be an option to try if Gibson needs some rest.

So if Hughes can't go which of those guys do you dress in his place?

If Brown is healthy, but I have heard different places that he might be heard then I am dressing him, if not then I am going to Wesley...Jones isnt going to see any time, they would play Pollard b4 him if the need would happen to arise...

As for Newble playing, you could still run Boobie at the point, but with Boobie on the bench and unless they play Snow we don't have anyone to play the point other than LBJ at the point Forward...

Cleveland Cavaliers' Zydrunas Ilgauskas, center, from Lithuania, celebrates a basket during the third quarter in Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals Sunday, May 27, 2007, in Cleveland. Ilgauskas scored 16 points in Cleveland's 88-82 win.
BIRMINGHAM, MICH. - There's almost nothing convenient about the Palace of Auburn Hills, which is tucked far into the northern Detroit suburbs at the end of a orange barrel-infested highway.
Out back, there is a giant landfill that towers over the building, which is grand in stature, if not location. Somewhere mixed in with all the tons of trash there are lots of broken dreams.
Many NBA teams have seen championship hopes crushed at the Palace, where the Pistons have celebrated three titles and numerous other deep playoff runs. That includes the Cavaliers, who tasted their final defeat last May in its not-so-friendly confines. In fact, in the LeBron James era, the Cavaliers are 4-12 in the Palace. In the playoffs, of which there is beginning to be quite a history, they are just 1-5.
