Good Lord, if you thought that the UF squad is anywhere as good as the National Champion team of 06- either before or during the season - you are seriously mistaken. We were not a bad team. Before some of our DTs went down we were playing some good ball. Hell, our offense never really tanked. If you want to knock Tim for not producing 42 freaking points to win, you'd better look at the other side of the ball. Hell, 35 should win every game if your defense is not half-assed.JCOSU86;1046437; said:And the SEC excuse machine revs up

Our defense has sucked all year. Our "O" won our games. And it is not an excuse machine revving up. We were not a bad ball club, but we finished third in our division. That is not the elite of the SEC, I'm sorry to say.
Michigan is a good team. You can search all of my posts on the board and you will not find a single post that said we would whip their ass - quite the contrary. One of the last comments I made was that it "feels" more like a reversal of last year, with a motivated Michigan and an entitlement mindset Florida.
I appreciate the unintentional compliment to Florida, but our getting beat is not - to me - the upset of the century, or an attempt to now say that Florida was not so good. We were a top fifteen club, and on any given day a top fifteen club could clean your clock. But we were never a lock to beat almost anybody. Looking at the talent that Michigan has, I think that it was foolish for anyone to think it was a lock.
If I thought differently I would have Vbet the Gators.

Where is ESPN now with all the slow northern school talk? Florida certainly didn't look faster than scUM yesterday. In fact I was impressed to hell out of the way scUM's O played. That is the O I think thier fans were looking for all year. That O was scary (Minus Hart fumbling twice) good yesterday. I am not sure I have ever seen a corp of recievers before who made so many ridiculous catches in one game like scUM did.
It was good to see them send Carr out with a win and put a good light on the Big Ten.

He was injured for a decent portion of the year... he finally had time to heal a bit.Lockup;1046634; said:Heck you might want to wonder where that QB has been all year. that was probably the best game I have ever seen Henne play. Some of the throws he made were crazy.

My comment wasn't directed at you, but at the LSU guy who believes that Florida is suddenly a Div I-AA team (sorry, Championship Subdivision ). Not to slight any of our fine visitors from LSU who have been great, but I am quite confident that if/when OSU wins there will be a parade of excuses, mostly from SEC types. I am just preparing for this.Gatorubet;1046554; said:Good Lord, if you thought that the UF squad is anywhere as good as the National Champion team of 06- either before or during the season - you are seriously mistaken. HailToMichigan;1045977; said:Haha, that didn't take long. How is Florida not a top SEC team? My memory may be fuzzy, I mean, I'm not perfect or anything, but I think I remember something about them winning a national championship. Maybe even just last year. And that crazy memory of mine just has to be playing tricks because I could swear they beat LSU on the way to doing it. I know they have a number of SEC championships under their belt, or it could be that all the snow is screwing with my memory again.
Last 2 years in the SEC:
Florida 12-4
Tennessee 11-5
Georgia 10-6
Kentucky 7-9
South Carolina 6-10
Vanderbilt 3-13
LSU 12-4
Auburn 11-5
Arkansas 11-5
Miss State 5-11
Alabama 6-10
Ole Miss 2-14
Last 5 years in the SEC:
Georgia 28-12
Florida 27-13
Tennessee 27-13
South Carolina 17-23
Kentucky 11-29
Vanderbilt 8-32
LSU 32-8
Auburn 31-9
Arkansas 20-20
Alabama 17-23
Ole Miss 13-27
Miss State 9-31
Clearly, Florida is one of the SEC's standard-bearers. Best team in the conference the last two years. And they play in what is obviously the SEC's tougher division. Don't try and denigrate Michigan's accomplishment today by throwing Florida to the side of the road. You say that you feel like you can beat Florida every time you match up - and I PROMISE you Gator fans feel the same way about you.
Own up to it: One of the Big Ten's best just beat one of the SEC's best. Why would you try, after the fact, to harrumph about it and pretend Florida isn't a team the SEC can hang its hat on?
Wow I never knew that the "two year record" was in vogue. I always thought it was what you did that year that mattered. THIS year we were not an "elite" team - and elite was the adjective of choice. Are we one of the tops teams of the last two years? Yeah, I guess we are with an MNC. But I did not see Reggie Nelson trying to cover Arrington this year.lvbuckeye;1046827; said:it's the same whack no-logic-having SEC homerism that rears its ugly head EVERY FREAKING SEASON. when an SEC team beats a Big Ten team, that win is paraded around as evidence of the SEC's absolute superiority. however, when a Big Ten team beats an SEC team, that SEC team is denigrated as being horrible, and immediately thrown under the bus. it happened with Tennessee against Penn State last year. SEC homers said Tennecleat would lose to seven other SEC teams. then they threw Arkansas under the bus after Wisconsin beat them and immediately forgot that the Hogs played for the conference championship
