Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

Here's why I don't understand why a program would engage in this sort of stuff.

If all of this is found to be true, it's not jut vacated wins and a suspended player, it's jobs being axed from the top down. It's literally millions of dollars in revenue/boosters/bowls that are lost. It's recruiting roadblocks for the next 3-5 years and it's basically destroying your program for an extended period of time all for a single player and all in the hopes that you don't get caught.

Makes no fucking sense.

I put it in the game thread but it seems appropriate here as well

Link

They took the line for the UGA game down because professionals placed bets based on information that Newton may be suspended.

Take it fwiw.

Wowwwwwww. This is a real dagger to the undefeated Auburn season. Seems like this is really legit stuff, did anyone hear what Dan Mullen said on the radio?? This kid definitely fucked up and the evidence is mounting.

Unbelieveable..

200,000 dollars damn bro. The ship that is Auburn football is about to sink very soon.

I'd love to hear these tapes.

Cecil Newton definitely needed money for his church:

The public hearing for the property was conducted on Dec. 16, 2008, at which time 180 days was given to repair or demolish the structures. After months of delay awaiting approved engineer drawings, Bishop Cecil Newton requested an extension on Sept. 21, 2009. Council granted a 180-day extension with the stipulation of a repair/demolition agreement and a time schedule of repair work for the 180 days.

The structure has been determined to be unsafe by the city and the cost to bring it into compliance exceeds 50 percent of the structure's assessed tax value, according to Camp.

Newton told the council the building can be brought to code "inside of six months." He also said the church has the money in hand to proceed with the work.

Newnan City Council has decided to allow the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance, 115 Temple Ave., to remain in existence at its present location if certain conditions are met.
The vote to give the church another chance to fix the Temple Avenue building, formerly a building supply company, came at Tuesday night's council meeting.
Earlier this month, Mayor Keith Brady said he was finished granting extensions for the church to bring its building up to code unless the owner could offer an acceptable, compelling reason why not to proceed with demolition.

The bishop reassured the city that he is in the midst of securing financing to fulfill the city's demands. The rear building should be removed in the next 7 to 10 days. Newton expects a general contractor could begin working on the exterior walls as early as this week.

Anybody wonder where the "money in hand" came from?

Anybody live close to Newnan GA? It would be interesting to drive by the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance church at 115 Temple Ave. and see if any repairs were made.

Miss State head coach Dan Mullen on Sirius XM MadDog Radio earlier today (typed verbatim from its broadcast on ESPN College Gameday):

MadDog radio host's question - "Here's the thing that I wonder as a head coach - people that are saying they're associated with your program as recruiters are saying that this kid had his hand out. You're the guy who's got the job that would know better than anybody. And I'm not trying to be crude about this - did he have his hand out?"

Mullen - "The people that need to know all the facts know what happened, and I'll leave it at that. You know, I mean, the people that needed stuff reported to 'em got stuff reported to 'em, as far as we're concerned."

So... what you're saying is... 'Yes'?

I heard Georgia Tech was ready to put together a very lucrative offer for Cam, but the Newton family wasn't interested in Rupees.

That's a coy way for Mullen to suggest fire, but also be fully defensable should this somehow go away. Sure SOUNDS like a yes...but he wasn't actually willing to say yes.

Mullen - "You got it. Thank you."

MadDog radio host to the on air audience - "Coach Mullen ladies and gentlemen. Great interview, short and to the point. For those that missed it, Cam Newton rang Auburn's doorbell and said, 'Trick or Treat?' In reality, the ding dong Auburn heard was infact the future sound of the proverbial human, dog, elephant, tiger what-have-you excrement barrelling into the air circulation device located on the ceiling of Jay Gogue's office. GLWD."
You forgot the last part of the interview...

The irony is... this will heat up (a lot).. so Cam will leave and enter NFL draft... and be drafted... ain't gonna be as a QB.. but all this will do is move up his timeline .. someone will make him a tight end... and draft him in the third or fourth round
