2021 CA LB Raesjon Davis (USC Verbal)

It seems likely that a lot of people who have never been to Ohio/Columbus before imagine it as a boring place in the middle of a cornfield somewhere. I'd like to think the actual Campus/Short North/Arena District areas are even more impressive with those expectations coming in.

Massively exceeding expectations in that way is hopefully happening for Raesjon and his family right now.

"I love it."

I always like seeing the recruits living it up on their visits no matter where they go. They've earned these opportunities and I have to say Davis really seems to be enjoying himself which is awesome.

As you say, Columbus is surprising because you don't think it's this big city and then you get there and you're like "wow there's tons to do".

IMO... he's a buckeye and he should be because he's exactly what our culture is about.

Even though it’s been one of the top 20 largest cities in the country for awhile now, the development of the three areas I mentioned has been massive in the last 20 years and give it much more of a trendy city vibe, especially along the high street corridor from Campus to Nationwide.

And the central Ohio region is expected to add another million people in the next 30 years (not that that has much to do with this, but it’s a place that continues to grow, hopefully in smart and exciting ways).

I agree... and this is the difference between here and say Oklahoma. When our primary targets visit... it's over.
Let's not go that far. I'm excited for the visit too, but I'll believe a Cali kid is ours, when he signs on the dotted line. Visits almost always seem positive. Just trying to keep it real

I hear what you are saying but it is hard not to think of this as a business trip since they foot the bill for the trip, etc.
Oh. it's definitely a business trip. But that doesn't mean that we our odds are have gone up much more than they already were prior to the trip. He gets to see things in person and meet some important people, but this seems to be more for his parents. I hope we can overcome the hometown team

Another update on top 2021 linebacker target

Davis’ father, Rashad Davis, also really liked what he saw in Columbus:

“It really couldn’t have gone any better,” Rashad Davis said. “From a football standpoint, it’s really a no-brainer out there. As a parent, I know Raesjon will get developed, he’ll learn, he’ll get better, he’ll be able to play in big games and have a great chance to get drafted. We like the coaching staff a lot and we’re very comfortable with Al Washington, the LB coach. The thing with Ohio State is they’re the one school who hasn’t promised Raesjon a starting spot or even told him how much he’ll play. They said come in ready to work hard and compete and you’ll earn your minutes and that’s all we’re asking for.”

Just sayin': Very interesting comment. You can read a lot (of positive) into that. I will wager a guess that his father was very impressed with Ohio State's honesty. In addition, it makes you wonder just what the other schools promised.
