2021 CA LB Raesjon Davis (USC Verbal)

Normally I wouldn't think a recruit would get too concerned about an individual season for a team he's committed to, but considering the problems there it's possible that Lil Bo Peep might not be around all that long.
I dont think its solely the season that has Davis rethinking his commitment. The entire coaching staff that has recruited him could be gone by the team he reaches campus. And LSU could be in for a full rebuild during his career, that doesn't sound fun for a top ranked recruit who will be tasked with all of the heavy lifting on that defense

I spoke briefly with Davis over the weekend, and he says his plan is to still stick with the Tigers.

“They have been speculating, but I'm still locked in,” Davis told Eleven Warriors. “I haven't changed or decided to do anything yet so it's just a waiting game.”

Davis, however, is not 100 percent locked in to signing during the Dec. 16-18 window, he told 247Sports' Greg Biggins. As of now, Davis says, he is leaning toward signing early and locking himself into Ed Orgeron's program despite the fact that he will not be enrolling early and will instead play out his senior season at Mater Dei (California) High School in the spring.

“I would say it’s 70-30 that I’ll sign in December,” Davis said. “I’m still really solid with LSU, despite all the rumors out there. I hear them and know what people are saying but I still really like LSU a lot and feel like that’s a great place for me.

“I still need to talk with Coach O (Orgeron) and my parents about it but I know coach O really wants me to sign and get that locked in. I trust coach O and I love the fit for me at LSU so we’ll see what happens. In the next week or so, I’ll finalize that, signing early or waiting until February but this is where it’s at right now.”

Well, that certainly sounds like a change of heart/mind. Maybe he just needs that visit to see whether he would get 'chills' when he visits other campi to make sure he's making the best decision. Coach O is certainly a cheerleader type, but Coach Day is a thinking man's coach. This kid sounds pretty intelligent, so maybe his 'friends' have been in his ear about things. Or maybe the USC faithful have been making promises to him (not trying to start any rumor here) that would benefit him and family if he stays close to home. The seashore to the bayou is a pretty drastic change of scenery.

Will the Buckeyes be able to sway Raesjon Davis from LSU?
Ohio State signed just one linebacker in the Class of 2021, but it is still working hard to add another. Linebackers coach Al Washington has been diligent in his pursuit of LSU commit Raesjon Davis since March, and the 4-star prospect has been listening. Davis changed his enrollment plans and adjusted his signing plans as well, choosing not to sign this week and to wait until February instead.

That gives a little bit of time for Ohio State to convince Davis and his family that the better move for his future is to choose Ohio State over LSU, which has been struggling with off-field issues and on the field, especially on defense under new coordinator Bo Pelini. The Buckeyes need to get Davis and his family on campus, and they would’ve done that over the Dec. 12 weekend if the Ohio State home game with Michigan hadn’t been cancelled. Without the backdrop of a game, even though he wouldn’t have been able to attend, the family decided against it.

The country’s No. 4-ranked outside linebacker would be a perfect complement to Reid Carrico and a solid addition for the Buckeyes, who are set to lose Tuf Borland, Pete Werner, Baron Browning and Justin Hilliard from their current roster.

USC is also very much in the mix for Davis, and if the talented youngster were to stick with LSU or pick the Trojans over the Buckeyes, there’s a chance they could pursue former USC linebacker Palaie Gaoeteote, who has recently entered the transfer portal. He was the No. 1-ranked inside linebacker in the Class of 2018.

yeah, I think it's USC and OSU. USC has a little momentum now so if Helton is able to keep some of those highly-talented west coast kids at home, they have the brand/tradition to get back into the national picture in the next few years.

Don't know what it will take for the PAC 12 to get their reputation back though. Probably USC, Oregon and one other team (maybe ASU) to be elite again.
