2021 CA LB Raesjon Davis (USC Verbal)

I wonder if the news of the departure of last years true freshman 5 star LBer Marcel Brooks will impact Davis and his decisions? Brooks played 118 snaps and backed up the starter at his position as a freshman, but is now in the transfer portal. He was being eyed as the next in line big time LBer for LSU. Now that Brooks has moved on (or appear to be) will Davis see this as an opportunity or will he continue to view his recruitment outside of depth charts discussions?

If we think that recruiting is a stomach churner, imagine how these young people look at it. Having a 5* play as a frosh at LSU, then go to the xfer portal, I know that my mind could/would conjure up all sorts of morbid scenarios. Why is this happening? Why is that 5* leaving a good thing? glad I'm not in their shoes, at 17-18 making a decision that could very well determine a lifetime outcome. I hope this young man, and many others, realize that football is fleeting, and that some places (Ohio State comes to mind), take care of their own after all is said and done. Pro players have, what, a five to eight year life expectancy in the league, and after that, one has another forty or so years to earn a living in other ways. Hope these kids have someone with their feet on the ground that can help them to a place that works out the best for them. Again, Ohio State comes to mind.......Go Bucks!

Actually id say an NFL career lasts closer to 2-3yrs. But most high end D1 colleges will provide you with a great network to work from after graduation. OSU is better than most, i hope we are at least in the hunt.

Not that it makes any difference if he stays committed to LSU....

DAVIS, OTHERS PLAN ON PLAYING SENIOR SEASON IN SPRING

We already know that guys like Jack Sawyer and TreVeyon Henderson have said they will continue forward with the plan to enroll early, but it’s not a universal decision from all prospects.

Ohio State linebacker target and LSU commit Raesjon Davis told Rivals’ Julie Boudwin that he will be “sticking around” for his senior season at Mater Dei (Calif.) High School.

Couple hopeful signs here...says he will try to visit before the end of the season. He has been to campus twice but only for quick stops. And he had
' @LSU football commit ' as his IG tag until recently but no more. Small but positive nuggets.

Trying to visit is definitely a massive positive. I wouldn’t read too much into the IG thing just yet (if it was indeed changed). He still has a bunch of LSU stuff on it, and his Twitter page still reads LSU commit with his commitment pinned.

It can only be a good thing that he’s trying to make his way back when he’s already been there twice though. If you weren’t into it at least a little bit, you wouldn’t go. If you’re not attracted to a female, you don’t look. He’s looking.

Just replaced “LSU commit” with “Mater Dei linebacker”. Interesting.

That said, his Twitter feed is overall still very pro-LSU.
