C Greg Oden (All B1G, All-American, Defensive Player of the Year, Butler Assistant Coach)

Oden is an extremely dominating player on defense, but I think he a lot of learning to do on the offensive side of the ball. He hasn't showed many moves down low. I know his wrist isn't 100%, but still, I think staying in college another year would give him a chance to fine tune his "O" before being thrown to the NBA wolves. Granted, there's a lot of his freshman season left, but I still think with his athleticism, he could develop some amazing moves down on the box instead of settling for that little one step and baby hook he likes to throw up. Just my opinion of course.

He couldn't make $10 Million in his first year. It would be somewhere like half that due to NBA max contract rules. Plus, he isn't exactly a face for advertising. He won't be losing out on as much money as you think.

Exactly what kind of face do you need for advertising?
Do you think this guy has a face for advertising?
He is sure in a lot of commercials.

He will easily get $5-8M per year in a shoe deal and other endorsements. Reebok has already thrown out a number of $30-40M for a shoe deal alone. And I expect him to land several endorsement deals -- not due to his looks but his character. Given the culture of pro sports and the relatively few "good people" playing, big corporations will be lining up to sign somebody of Greg's character.

I totally agree.:)

Eyes wide shut: Is Ohio State using Oden enough?
By Jason Logan
Thu, Jan 11, 2007

Maybe it?s being a former post player or my recent venture into coaching, but to me the Ohio State Buckeyes look like they have no idea how to use Greg Oden.
On defense, the game plan is simple: Put the big guy in the middle and watch opposing frontcourts cower like scolded dogs.
Head coach Thad Matta has followed logic, placing the seven-footer in the middle of his 2-3 Zone and reaping the benefits of Oden?s 3.7 blocks per game and countless altered shots. But at the other end of the floor, the Buckeyes offense looks at Oden much like a color-blind person looks at a Rubik?s Cube.

Buckeyes should get a lot better as Oden gets stronger

Ohio State's Greg Oden scores two of his 24 points on a thunderous dunk in the first half.

A lot of people around here seem a little anxious is that the right word? over the play of the Ohio State men's basketball team this season. Actually, there might be a lot of "right" words that describe that uneven buzz.

Tom Archdeacon: Oden shows his best side against Vols

By Tom Archdeacon
Dayton Daily News

Sunday, January 14, 2007

COLUMBUS They hoped it would be Greg Oden's coming out party on national television, and it was in more ways than you ever could imagine.
"On rebounds, I swear to God nobody blocks out, they just push me in the back. Even today I think somebody grabbed my shorts. I think my butt was out for a second," the Buckeyes' 7-foot freshman said afterward with his always dead-pan delivery and perfect timing.

After watching Michigan State today, I think Oden will be somewhere north of 20 points in each of his next 4 games (NW, Iowa, At NW, AT MSU).

Ohio State should win each of them, especially if they can hit some jumpers. All 3 of these teams can sometimes struggle to hit the outside shot, and not one of them have the inside game to challenge Oden and Hunter.

Oden will have favorable matchups in every game, even against MSU, who has one of those Soft Euro forwards who thinks he's a gaurd in a 6-10 body on their front line. He's like Dirk Nowitski, except he won't drive and doesn't have near the skill Dirk does.

Yes I'm bored......

Oden won't be the problem. Balanced scoring, hitting some 3's during the game and D are the concerns. Again they are a young team have patience and have fun.

Heh....

I'm not worried - hey I don't think this team is anywhere near it's peak. Remember last year this was the time of the year where Foster and Sylvester were hitting anything they threw at the basket but they didn't have much to give come tourney time.

Honestly it still looks like they have too many cooks in the kitchen. I think they are still figuring out how to play together.

Oh I got to babysit my 8 month old Nephew yesterday so I got tons of practice

It's important to remember with boys that you need to fold down the very top of the front of his diaper, otherwise he'll pee on himself....
