C Greg Oden (All B1G, All-American, Defensive Player of the Year, Butler Assistant Coach)

At this point, nothing would suprise me but I would caution everyone to be patient and let them go through the decision making process......if Oden leaves or all three....the future is bright for the OSU basketball program. Enjoy the year we had with Oden along with Conley and Cook and look forward to next season....

His aunts wedding is taking place in New York on Saturday...a girl I know went out with him and Cook the other night, from what I was told I will be shocked if any of them stay...

I am just reporting what I was told straight from Oden's mouth that they all will be in Indy by next week training for the draft instead of attending classes...Apparently BestBuck36 either knows everything or is trying to pretend the situation is not goin on to make him feel better...

Those 2 quotes don't quite add up but none the less, until we hear it announced for the record it will all still be speculation. Lets also keep in mind, these are young men and they can change their minds at any point in time.

I have not read every post in this thread but nothing I have read says BestBuck36 is predicting anything. This may have been a misunderstanding but I do not think it was neccessary to call him out.

The next 3 years without Oden, Cook, and Conley is not so bleek!

Exactly!!! I would hope everyone has been looking to the future to go along with their speculation. We have a great class coming in next year that will be able to fill the shoes of the ones who are leaving. I may not happen as fast as it did this year, but it will happen. We have great classes comming in for the next 3 years at least!

lol, I'm not believing anything until its official. Everyone has their sources (and I'm not saying that people who post things they heard here are trying to start rumors, but everyone has a friend who's heard something). We'll see, maybe this one is correct, but if its like all the other ones then its not. I guess my question is why would they still be going to class now, if they don't plan on going to class next week?

LOL, so that people will start saying things in chat rooms and message forums then they will sit back and laugh at the crazy things people can come uip with. (not implying anything) Not really, Its because they truely don't know yet. I believe Conley and Cook are waiting for Oden, and will do what he does.

lol, i just wanted to be part of the group.

For real. Don't laugh at all the speculation, someone might get on your case about it.:bicker:

Not even sure how my name came up at all, I was just surprised people knew Greg's itenerary right down to where he was going, when and why. At what point do people actually just sit back and wait instead of trying to "guess" or report what everyone else is saying? I know Greg is larger than life for the Ohio State University but he still has a life to live everyday, and why people become fascinated with the normal things like paparazzi do I'll never understand.

And before someone needs to fire back at me, I didnt call you a paparazzi!:wink2:

Every speculation that's been made up until know about what these guys are going to choose is wrong? Given that there are only two possible outcomes, I hardly see how that's possible. Whichever way these guys choose, quite a few people's speculations will have been correct - certainly by sheer guesswork in many cases, but probably not in all.

As for your question, it's free education. Some people consider that to have value, even if it doesn't increase their net worth.

You asked why Oden wasn't mentioned as being an honorary Spring Game Coach like Conley & Butler. It's been written in articles on the internet, and reported on the radio that he'd be out of town in NY (appearantly with relatives / at a wedding). So people answered your question.

Or just a sign that Oden hasn't made a firm decision yet and is keeping his options open OR that he intends on completing the quarter out of respect for Matta so as to maintain a better academic record for the team. Either way it makes me that much more proud of him, whether he leaves or not. Greg seems to be an honorable man and mature beyond his years. This gives me confidence that whatever he decides will be a decision based not on emotion or impatience, but a decision that is based on reason and is what is best for Greg. Not for anybody else including the NBA, tOSU, or any of the other characters involved in this situation.
