C Dallas Lauderdale (Maine Red Claws - NBA G-League)

Lauderdale scored 10 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in a loss yesterday against Kosta Koufos/Canton Glen Oak, 56-45.

I have now seen Lauderdale once on tv and yesterday. I must say I love what I see. The kid is a bully. He was pushing Kosta around at times and when he asserted himself at times he was pretty dominant down low. One of his blocks on Kosta was awesome. He hit it into about the 3rd row.

One might look at his stats, and hear the reports about him not asserting himself and question what kind of player he will be. Well here is my opinion on that. The coaching of the Solon team is poor at best. GlenOak played a zone against Solon which I am sure most teams do against Solon as they have Lauderdale and the other kid that is 6'7'' post. The problem is the guards have no idea how to get the ball down low and second off the zone offense has Lauderdale standing at the free throw line. Just what he is there for is baffling to me. I think he actually got the ball in the post 2 times. One time with a very very nice post move with a sweet little shot over Kosta. He also had a nice alley oop dunk. I just can't believe how bad they use him I left with my head shaking at the lack of importance he plays in the offense. That IMO leads to him getting frustrated and not playing hard all the time on the Defensive end. He is one that might have fallen in the rankings and we have heard that he will take time, but Lauderdale is goign to be a pleasent suprise to a lot of people if they don't think he will see the court next year. He is strong as an ox to.

crazybuckfan40, im sorry but you have no idea what your talking about when you say the coaching staff off Solon is poor at best. Todd Van Reeth is an excelent basketball coach with a great knowledge and tradition of basketball. He is not an idiot and he knows and trys to get it into Dallas but obviously you only got your assertion from one game. Do not judge a player or coaching staff from one experience.

So tell me why they decided to put Lauderdale at the high post in the zone offense when his game is clearly 5 ft and in...

And how you can have a guy like Lauderdale and not try and get him invovled in the offense...

I have watched 2 of his games and from seeing I believe that he coudl be very effective in the post, but I look at the stats of his games and I don't see many shot attempts and many points. Me thinks it has to do with not getting him involved down low.

BTW it wasnt just me that left the game saying that...The 5 guys I was with were saying the same thing.

Solon's Lauderdale wants focus to be on team, not him

Saturday, January 20, 2007 Mike Peticca

Plain Dealer Reporter
Dallas Lauderdale knows that expectations are high for him and the Solon boys basketball team, and that some observers believe those expectations aren't being met.
Lauderdale is not concerned. He is a young man who knows his limitations.
"When there are three people on me, one on the side, one in front and one in back, it's tough to score," Lauderdale said after the host Comets struggled to a 46-44 victory over Stow on Friday night. "I'm not going to force things.

Lauderdale leads Comets' run past Arcs

Put in the effort and do things the right way. It was a simple yet effective formula that enabled Solon to take command against Brush on Friday night.
"It's not a complicated game," Solon coach Todd Van Reeth said after the Comets, led by center Dallas Lauderdale, rolled to a 73-51 victory in a boys basketball game.

Watched this game and DL just did not dominate like a recruit of his skill and size should. The guys guarding him were 6'5" max and there was still not much of a post game. Lauderdale was almost lumbering on defense and always looking to block a shot instead of defending his guy...I am sure this is just one game against a fairly overmatched opponent, but IMO i thought he would have stood out more. he mainly stood out b/c he was the tallest guy (by far) on the floor, but not the most talented

Solon's center stops Tigers

Thursday, March 08, 2007 Mike Peticca

Plain Dealer Reporter
Dallas Lauderdale's career will be remembered as long as basketball is played at Solon. One of the games that people will talk about is the one Lauderdale played on Wednesday night.
"Dallas refused to let us lose," Solon coach Todd Van Reeth said, after the Comets defeated Cleveland Heights, 65-57, in a Division I boys game at Warrensville Heights. "The big fella blocked shots, altered shots and made the play to win it."
