C Dallas Lauderdale (Maine Red Claws - NBA G-League)

here is an excellent video clip of dallas. i'm just as impressed by his composure, work ethic, and maturity as i am by his skills. dallas is a high quality person who is a foundational/glue player. also, there is no doubt that he has the body to add another 30 pounds.

in the video clip log, you'll find two clips of oden, one of conley, and two of beanie.

Dallas really struggled in his last game as a Solon Comet. Only managed 8 points on 3/9 shooting and 2/8 from the charity stripe. Koufos really got the better of the matchup.

I know one game does not make a player, but it looks like he has a long way to go before he'll be contributing at OSU.

For any who have seen him play before...... does he always shoot with such a jerky motion? Looks very awkward.

Dallas will be fine with coaching IMO...

He is a great athlete and has all the physical tools, but fromt he game I was at he wasnt even the guy that the coach put in the post and when he actually got the ball in teh post he had a couple solid moves...

I don't think he is going to play big minutes next year, but he has a college ready body and if he can be a fast learner he could see solid minutes next year...

was at the game and onething for sure.
SOLON has a very average team with sad coaching. He never got the ball down low and when he did it got blocked. I can't wait for him to get some OSU coaching. He was against a 7 2 freak who blew my mine dribbling up and down the court.:osu:

Just curious if Glenoak was in a zone all game or they played man?

Also was DL in the post against the zone or the other 6'7'' kid?

mostly zone but, it was hard to tell because, the guards and forwards were all over attacking whoever had the ball for solon. It was a zone with Kosta in the middle and rest attacking whoever had the ball.

DL was mostly down low and they said he was 6 10 but, his long arms make him look like he's another 7 footer or taller.

Poor Work Ethic or Bad Coaching

If he is as good as everyone says, than he must have poor coaching. In the games that I have seen, he appeared to be very lazy. He was not hustling and he was about as aggressive as a turtle. He has the body, he has the talent, now he has to prove that he is worth the scholarship spot.

If he does not get hungry he will ride the pine because Hunter and Terwilliger will play and Mullins and Madsen will out work him the following year. It is my opinion that Lauderdale doesn't even get to play and he transfers.

It will be up to his work ethic. He can't loaf up and down the court and stand on his heels under the basket at OSU which he has basically done all year at Solon. The rebounds he got were just because of his height. That won't cut it against the hungry, fiesty kids wanting to knock the Buckeyes out.

Just my opinion.

I have now seen Lauderdale 3 times after seeing his game on STO against JFK today...

You see alot of this with big kids in high school when they seem to play with people that arent able to get them the ball with consistency and they get frustrated after trip up and down the court of not getting the ball they start to loaf some...Not making excuses, but he will have to be in much better shape and you will see a much more concerted effort on the college floor in practice and games than what has been witnessed in high school...There are a very select few, maybe a handful of highschool coaches that actually have an idea of how to coach a big man in high school...Especially when teams start throwing all these defenses at them with 2 and 3 guys hanging all over the big guy...

But the thing is that Lauderdale is bigger than half the big guys in college right now and his body rivals that of Tyler Hansbrough but I do believe that Lauderdale has a longer wing span as his arms are real long...Once Thad gets a hold of him and starts to develop him we could see an unstoppable force, b/c the potential that he has with his body it is just a matter of developing some skill, but he will be able to help out on the offensive and defensive glass along with his ability to block shots...

I saw Lauderdale and KK go at it at the Schott earlier in the season I will say that Lauderdale played a very nice game and really was able to push KK around inside...

I saw Lauderdale play once in person and a few times on video, so I only know a little bit about him. I think he'll definitely fit a role on this team his first few years. He'll be a guy that comes off the bench for his first few years(though I could definitely see him starting as a soph if he puts the work in) and play tough interior defense and good help defense. He'll be an effective rebounder on both ends and he'll protect the lane and block shots. Teams need guys like this.

If he puts the effort in, he could very much be a lot like an Elton Brand type player. Not the tallest guy, but an above average scorer, rebounder, and defender. I definitely see that potential in him, but he isn't there yet. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised by his contriubutions next year. He might have a Lighty type season where he's a little awkward at the beginning, but when he gets used to the collegiate game his talent begins to show itself. He'll be our interior version of Lighty IMO. Not a star, but a great contributor to the TEAM.

The Lauderdale and Hunter wingspan in the paint is going to be miserable for opposing scorers. We should own the glass next year. Koufos will most likely draw the tallest player from the other team or create ridiculous mismatches. When that happens Dallas will be free to bang inside and gain a lot of experience come Big 10 season.
