After reading a bit on this, I had no idea the BJ walked away from Coach Matta as he was talking with him and such.

There goes my respect for the kid, but I do wish him the best.

Sadly, I didn't have much for him coming in. When his HS team played my old HS team, we shut him down fairly well and he ended up fouling out, taunting the entire crowd on his way out. At that, his last foul was blatant and out of disgust. He has a LONG way to go mentally. On top of that, what happened to actually producing before you get drafted? Yeah he has great potential, but I saw very limited times of productions. His only points were basically on alley-oops or quick in's for a dunk. He got out-rebounded all year by lesser guys and as one of those reviews said, he takes plays off. I never saw evidence that he could make a move on a defender and score off the glass, or off a hook shot. He isn't a decent free throw shooter. I would personally be fuming if my NBA took him. I wish him good health at the next level.

If y'all have heard this before, go to the next post.......

What is the mission of college? Answer => to prepare young people to enter the work force.

Well, from what BJ has heard/learned or believes, he is ready to do just that. If someone had offered a freshman chemistry major several millions of dollars to work in their lab, would we be having this conversation? Probably not.

They're not there to 'win one for alma mater dear', but to prepare themselves to earn a living in the 'real world'. It usually takes most of us four years to do that (earn a sheepskin), and some longer (masters or PhD), but when we have that, we're ready.........

Guaranteed money is special and could set him up for life. Yeah, hopefully he puts it in the bank and doesn't buy a new Ferrari or some such.....

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: I too wish BJ all the luck, and spread the Buckeye pride around. I believe we have more players in the NBA now than at any other time? That's neat.

Something almost always seemed "off" with B.J. this year. For a kid with such high expectations who had been committed to the program for so long, you can't help but look at him as a big disappointment in his Buckeye career. I won't speculate as to why he couldn't seem to put it together, but something was off. I do hope he goes on to a long and successful pro career.
And you call yourself a regular :shake:

I guess my take is about the same as Grad21. Here is a kid who always wanted to be a Buckeye and came from some pretty difficult circumstances.

OK, he is young and didn't dominate this year and I am among those who think he would benefit from another year in college.

But, what's not to love? He picked us. Unlike a few others, he stayed right in Columbus and played for Ohio State. He's leaving saying nice things about the coach and team even though it is clear that he was a bit disappointed. He has a chance to do good things for his family. Where's the love?

Good luck, young man, good luck. Make us bloody proud!
