C Amir Williams (Worcester Wolves - England)

Kind of late, but I'd love to hear why Amir didn't get any PT against MSU. He was exactly the type of player we needed.
While he can play above the basket, I do not think that he is physically strong enough yet to go up against Green, Nix and even Payne. Plus, you put him on the floor with Sullinger and that creates mismatches at the other end of the court. I don't mind seeing Sullinger taking a few outside shots but that is not his strength and that's what he would have to do with Williams on the court at the same time.

The way he played against that school up north, I would not expect to see him play for the rest of the year. He was lackadaisical and did not look like he wanted to be out there. When Thad pulled him out he gave him an ear full.

What? He only played for a few minutes, and he got a couple of rebounds. Maybe Thad was upset at something he did, but to say that you would not expect to see him play for the rest of the year is ridiculous.

I think this is telling in and of itself. The few minutes he did get in he was playing at 75% the speed of everyone else. It was not a slow speed like he was a freshman, he did not look like he was showing any effort. That is one thing that coaches hate. After Thad took him out and lectured him, he never got back in the game. Either he does not know what he is doing out there or he is not motivated to play at 100%. Either way it does not bode well for him to get more than a minute or two a game until this clears up. Sorry for the over exaggeration of saying that I did not think he would get any more playing time the rest of the year.

He hasn't played much all year, at least not since the Big Ten season started. In the game just before the UM game, at Minnesota, he also only got 2-3 minutes. That's just where he is right now in Thad's mind, I think. It certainly isn't the case that Thad was planning on playing him 10-15 minutes against UM, but benched him after 2 minutes due to lack of effort.

I think his play last night validated Matta's choices. He made some poor choices on offense and was caught flat-footed numerous times on defense. He's got the tools to be a good one but he's still a year away.

I think Amir's play in the Gonzaga game and the Syracuse game, changed the outcome of the game. His defensive presence under the room is huge for a guys like craft, buford, smith jr. If they get beat there is someone to block a shot. I would really like to see 10 minutes a game with Sullinger and Williams on the floor at the same time.

I agree. I think it would really help Sullinger stay out of foul trouble.

I don't have the luxury of getting all of the OSU games since I live in Minnesota (atleast basketball) and I've noticed all year that they prefer #30 over Amir. Any reason to this? Amir looked so athletic, long, and active in tonights game and I really feel he is a better fit to relieve Sully.

Great minutes by Amir tonight (except for not getting back once). I was expecting him to go in and pick up several fouls (based on how the game was being called), but he only had 1. This has to help his confidence in the future. He showed some growth on a huge stage.
