TL;DR Ohio State & stochastic methods taught me that no team is likely to go undefeated.
My larger point is: it's a long season and team chemistry goes a LONG ways, so lets wait a few weeks before declaring "12-2 squad."
I didn't "declare" anything.
I said 12-2 is still in play.
I have been speaking in terms of the most likely outcome.
We can agree that first-game aberrations are common; and we cannot draw conclusions from them on which we would bet real money. We are agreed, I think, that "declaring" what is going to happen is unreasonable, but I am entitled to express an opinion.
And that is all I did. I expressed an opinion about what the most likely outcome is. To be clear, my opinion, at this point, is that they are unlikely to do better than a two loss season.
Or are you saying it's too early in the season to express an opinion?
There was a poll asking our opinions before a single game was played. You didn't register your complaint there, in spite of the fact that LJB quite eloquently predicted a 12-2 mark in that thread, so that must not be what you mean...
Or are you suggesting it's too early to say 2 losses are likely but it's NOT too early to say that a better record is more likely?
After THAT game?
Yeah, it was only a first game. But that brings us back to the point that people were predicting two losses when zero games had been played.
It's a message board
People are going to express opinions
