In my opinion, the biggest issue with BP is the treatment of newbies. I personally don't like the 50 post rule, Wrestler, but I can see where you're coming from.
Luckily, I eased into posting by spending a few months reading, or posting VERY lightly before becoming more serious. I've tried to keep things in the appropriate forums, use the search function, or refraining from hyjacking. However, it isn't always a walk in the park. Still, I love this site and have talked a few other people to join. Some of them have learned the rules very well and become more dedicated posters than I am (Zurp...), but some have run away with their tails between their legs. That's disappointing, to say the least. I wish I could get them back to BP, but it's not going to happen.
There SHOULD be a difference between a newbie who is flaming and a newbie who is trying to learn the ropes of the site rules. However, the treatment seems to be fairly similar in these two cases. I've seen plenty of newbies that have been hammered into the red. When I look up their previous posts, it appears as if their crime was posting off-topic, starting a duplicate thread, or (my LEAST FAVORITE) disagreeing with a senior poster. That one bugs the crap out of me. Why intimidate a newbie because he/she has a different opinion? Why do some BP-ers think they're smarter or better because of a post count? Ugh. I'm not at all saying that all high-posters are this way, but this mentality is out there.
Okay, that's it. I should stop before my blood gets going. Bottom line, this site kicks ass, and the fact that we take a step back to analyze how to make things better adds to the overall quality of Buckeye Planet.
