I think my point was that there isn't a "Top" really... We can always max out some "new graphic"... and I think that its good for people to be able to have an impact from the get go, if that makes sense... because on one hand I may have a greater number of reps than you... but if we crbed everyone's power, you may have a newer member than yourself with lower rep than you (or me), even with more reps, because we benefitted from 5 million point reps, when they can only get 100K point reps... or whatever.

I guess we have reached the point where things have saturated and all is relative. Of course as a very old member, you had to work your butt off for rep (not calling you a rep whore) but them's the breaks. Things are always more convenient for the younger generation right?

Well.. not really... I mean... a few breaks from the site aside, I've always been on the "first page" (Assuming I am now).

My point is that if we're having "newbie" hazing issues (which I really don't see), why change the rep system to work against our newer members?

If the idea that the site is going to be based on the contributions of our members, then, why have both the rep systme and post count working against them? Why shouldn't a new member who jumps rihgt in and works hard on the recruiting board (or whatever) have as much rep as some crazy "old paintchipping baron"?

As long as this site has been up, we've had new people come alonga nd make great contributions... especially as some of the older contributors have moved along to other things... whatever those things were.

I think we need to keep encouraging that, and have at least one of the two "pecking order categories" (Post count being the other...) be a more, "What have you done for me lately kind of thing...

If someone has more rep than me, its probably because they've "earned it" by contributing more recently. And if a newb passes you (not just GD01, "you"-- meaning everyone) in rep, and for some reason it bothers you... maybe you need to ask yourself why... and post better, or contribute more.... (Obviously there are plenty of ways to do that, as people can get reps for nearly any contribution... even things that I would condsider to be not so "positive".... but someone else does.)

I don't know what the hell happened. I gave mili a ding for a post I didn't agree with and thought was stupid. He finds out and gives me like 6 dings as "pay back" I guess.

That is another problem with the system. If you give someone a ding for something you don't agree with then that is how it should be. Unfortunately with some mods they find out and whip you with a rep stick.

I realize I'm going to get more dings for this, but it needs to be said.

I didn't sign my ding to him. That was my fault. But he signed 2 of them and three were signed as "Anonymous". So I'm just assuming that was him. So maybe it was only 5.

But still that is a little excessive.

is it mods or people in general?
heres my rep/ding history. i dont ever remember dinging anyone, if its a dumb post i let it go.

We both know that at this point I could care less about rep really, it was only a suggestion. As a new member, yeah I did care at first. Eventually it became such that "What's another million now?" kind of thing. Get rid of the rep system...I'd be ok with that as well. Great post awards could be advertised instead since those really show who the great posters are and who clutter the boards such as myself

They are not from Mili...he always signs his. I dinged you becuase of your since-deleted post to Seed and the fact that you complain about the rep system then do the exact things you complain about. Your anonymous ding to Mili was not your first...

You should know I always sign my dings...I don't sign them "Anonymous". You dinged my post that simply said "OU?"...what the fuck was that for? You were also out of line belittling seed702 (even though you later deleted your post). And you wonder why you get nuclear-detonated so much...
