For some reason Pittman's appearance at Fan's Choice, Cincinnati is being listed as "Cancelled" now. So if you were going to make the trip this Sat., I suggest you call the store for all the details before doing so (always a good idea anyway).

Anyone find it a bit odd to be paying 25-35 dollars to get the signiture of couple of college guys? I mean most of these guys are only like 3 or 4 years older than me, so I guess it would just be a little awkward for me to have to pay for it.

I would much rather see/meet one of them somewhere, shake their hand and talk for a minute or two than to just simply have their autograph.

However, I can see the value in it if you are getting something for a kid, young brother, nephew etc.

I get some for my son (sometimes we go together, other times just me) or nephews, or others who ask me for a particular player / picture or magazine to get signed, but many are just for my own walls.

I went into my own opinion a page back, top post (#241 I think) as to the "value" it holds for me.

To each his own I guess.

The Miami Valley Centre Mall will host a Sports Card and Collectibles Show February 9-11. The show is co-sponsored by Shelby County Collectibles. In conjunction with that two Ohio State players will be giving autographs. Anthony Gonzalez will sign autographs from 1-3 P.M. Febuary 10 in front of J.C. Penney's. Autographs will be $10 each, with a limit of two per person. Former Piqua standout and Ohio State All-American Quinn Pitcock will be signing FREE autographs from 1-3 February 11 in front of the J.C. Penney store. While Pitcock's autographs are free, there is a limit of two per person. The public may bring their own items to have autographed or merchandise will be available for purchase the day of the signing.

Now those are NICE prices for everyone involved. Troy Smith is asking for $35 just to sign. That's crazy! He's not going to make nearly as much as he should if he were to sign for $20. $35 means that the promoter has to sell and 8x10 for $50!!! Who wants to pay $50 for Troy's Autograph? NFL Hall of Famers do shows for $35! Troy is not even close to being in that category IMO!

BTW Teddy's price is $25 and that's crazy too! I also heard his agent is trying to limit his appearances to THREE??? What? This guys should be FIRED for LIMITING his earning potential! Idiot...Tom Condon is his agent apparently.

Many people with Heisman pieces will gladly only pay 35 for Troy...Bo Jackson still goes for 100 a pop. Now if Troy had not won the Heisman, the price wouldn't make much sense.

I'd pay 35 in a heartbeat! AJ Hawk's last year were around 50, then again I got a jersey autographed so it's a little more expensive.

Anyone have news of Troy Smith or Ted Ginn coming to the Dayton area?

Neither have I! Hopefully they'll do a seniors autograph session at Cardboard Heroes!

I doubt that will happen! The only person trying to do a team session is Ohio Signatures Unlimited on Feb 10th and 11th. Gonzo would have to come after he already scheduled gig somewhere else.

Word is out that a lot of promoters are not willing to shell out the $35/per sig to Troy. I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with paying $35 but YOU will not, b/c you'll be paying $50 for an 8x10. The promoter has to keep his margins.

The only reason I say that is the last time they were in the title game, they had a senior autograph session... It's not completely out of the question.

Um, what happened in that title game? And remember it was '68 the last time something like that happened!

What happened in the recent title game? How long has it been since the last time game?

See what I'm getting at?

Those are just obvious observations not to mention the politics that are flying around right now in the current autograph circuit.
