Buckeye autograph seekers, memorabilia collectors (all merged threads)

Meanwhile, if OSU sells 40,000 jerseys that just happen to be the number of the starting QB, they can actually put his name on the back and he can get a piece of the pie from Nike. It's open, above board, and reduces financial temptation for things that get coaches and programs in trouble.
Would it make sense (or would it even be possible) to put the player's portion of the proceeds into some sort of trust that they would not be eligible to receive until their eligibility is exhausted (naturally or by leaving early)? Or, let them have some of the money so that they do see some reward, thus being less tempted to seek it elsewhere.

I guess my feeling is what the dynamics might be with one, maybe a handful players walking around a lot of legitimate money while the O-Lineman who works just as hard to ensure the player's success not seeing much, if any, at all. Then again, how would that be any different?

Interesting idea though, and it would all be accountable and taxable.

I concur....

But I have to ding you anyway. Arrested Development quote set-up FAIL on your part.

Well deserved. I was trying to remember where I'd heard that line and was drawing a complete blank.

I think we oughta have our wives continue this negotiation. A husband and wife can't be prosecuted for the same crime.
I think I met your attorney.
