So the Brutus statues weren't the moneymaker they were hoped to be.
The fundraising goals for the renovations for the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library were still reached, according to an announcement today, in large part thanks to a $4 million donation from the athletic department. That was in addition to a $5 million donation from the athletic department that helped kick off the renovations two years ago.
All told, more than $108 million was needed for the project. State funds provided $70 million, $8 million came from unveristy money set aside for the project and the other $30 million came from donors, with more than 2,000 various donations coming in. The largest was that $9 million from the athletic department.
