This was my son's Halloween costume. I posted a link to this in the Halloween costume thread, but thought more people might be interested in seeing this for next year. He wanted to be Brutus for awhile, but I wasn't paying $50 for the ones online. When I saw the USC/UCLA commercial on tv, I knew we just had to do this. We don't live in Buckeye country so I was proud of him for having the guts to do it. I think it worked out quite well.
Brutus from start to finish:
Start with large children's kickball.
Paper mache it. (four to five layers)
First we spray painted the entire thing dark brown and then cut out an oval from a newspaper and tried to make the face lighter.
Added the facial features...
...and a hat... 
...and a kid.

Seriously, he had a blast (all his friends are PSU or Michigan fans) and all the other dads were jealous as hell with their kids weak ass costumes.

Dude, haven't you ever made a pinata? After the paper mache dries and you cut the hole for the neck, eyes, mouth, etc, the ball deflates and you're left with the shape of the ball only made out of paper.

sounds like a great costume. I'll keep it in mind for the future, especially if I ever visit my future father-in-law over halloween (he's an ND & UM fan and is jokingly furious that his daughter is becoming a buckeye)

tg05... you just remove the original head and staple the fake one on... just don't use velro... it won't work.

I know this may rub some people the wrong way but am I the only one that thinks Brutus needs a bit of a makeover?
I realize I'm sounding like Jwinslow with this type of thread but what the hell.
The 1996 lacrosse/windpants just aren't getting it done and the 1985 striped shirt seems to need updating.
Also, am I the only one who thought the new Brutus head that started being worn a few years ago looked Asian with those slanted eyes?
I think it would be cool if he wore some silver Football pants and updated the shirt somehow.
Feel free to photoshop pics if you are good at that kind of thing and throw some suggestions out there.
