PFT is reporting that Cutler is a Chicago Bear. No other details yet.. but if I had to guess, I'd say it involves more than Kyle Orton and the 18th overall pick...

18th and first round next year...hell of an upgrade at qb...Kyle Orton...Mass suicides in denver

Just read Denver is giving up a conditional third rounder as well. 18th pick this year, and probably something in the 20's the year after. There's no way chicago is going to yield a high pick in 2010.

Orton is at least a body with a pulse to put out there for 09. Have heard a few hard core Bronco fans on Serius today calling for blowing things up, and starting over ala KC. Heard media speculation that Denver should package the 12th and 18th picks to move up fo M. Sanchez. After this train wreck i would hope that they get a player with each pick, and try to build for down the road.

I'd rather take the picks as well, and a beating this year..Hold on to both first rounders next year and unload them for a high draft pick(qb)2010(bradford,maybe Mccoy)....Of course at this rate they might have a pretty high one next year as well.

That rebuilding road can take a long time, I Remember San Diego's rebuilding years, trying out Mike Riley at head coach, letting Bobby Ross leave, drafting Ryan leaf and then the pain, the going to the stadium and being outnumbered by fans of the opposing team, and thanking the NFL gods that Seattle was there, so that on some years, we wouldn't finish in last place. You "blow it up" when all the talent that was the foundation is gone, and this shouldn't be the case with Denver. This whole fiasco stinks of a maturity level that is usually seen in the sand box.

I wonder how Cutler is going to like the bears fans, though after seeing how Denver fans treated the last 2 quarterbacks they had, one of which lead them to a playoff win, he may be in for a vacation.

There might be 3-4 guys with a first round grade next year. To use both firsts this year to gamble on a QB would exponentially amplify the idiocy of this fiasco. If Sanchez or Stafford drop down close to the 12th pick, and the Broncos are high on that guy, well that is a different scenario. I keep forgetting that Denver has that boy genius as their coach, and need only to get a guy in the 6th or 7th round or even a college free agent and Mcdanials will make him into a world beater in no time.

I agree totally. That is why this whole offseason is incomprehensible. Shanahan was fired because Bolen wants the DC changed and MS doesn't agree. Many don't feel Pat Bolen ever went into the off season looking to fire Shanahan, let alone end up with this mess. None of us know if Cutler will be a hall of famer, but I certainly feel he has shown enough to prove that he can play at a high level in the NFL. Egos aside how management let this thing get to a point where it couldn't be repaired is inexcusable. History has shown time and again that teams can struggle for years, decades even, to finally get a difference maker under center. To have one in hand and loose him because of game playing is unbelievable. OC, as a Chargers fan you are well aware that Denver has other problems. To my way of thinking, this off-season has destroyed the only true strengths that Denver had going into 09. Shanahan as offensive guru with Cutler leading a potent offense. Now who knows? Maybe Mcdanials can pull it together. Maybe he is another charlie Weis. I do know that I won't be expecting Orton to win games almost single-handedly over the next few years, Sims is a major unknown, and any rookie that they could bring in would have growing pains. 3 years from now guys like Champ and DJ Williams best football could be behind them. I understand some fans sentiments that these players could have value, and it would be a shame to not grab picks if the ship is indeed sinking. From this point on, Mcdanials will have to earn every single spec of respect and confidence from Bronco fans.

OC, meant to address it in the previous post, but reportedly Cutler grew up a bears fan in Santa Claus Indiana. I had always thought that he had a reputation as a good teammate, and will assume this would still be true. If his statistically huge season gave him a big head or somehow some funky juiced diabetes medicine is effecting his behavior then whoa. I think the Bears fans will be thrilled to have a QB with top ability, and with a good defense and running game it will be likely that the team will have success. It will remain to be seen that after Shanahan, whether Cutler will get frustrated in Ron Turner's offense. Take a look at my post over in the Ill. recruiting forum for a pertainent story that at least I found interesting.

Josh McDaniels may know football, but he lacks the maturity to be a head coach in the NFL. The same can be said of Cutler at QB. The two of them remind me of a couple of 8 year olds knocking over each other's castles in the sandbox.

The Broncos have gone backwards and McDaniels hasn't even coached a game yet. Bears fans are excited now, but if Cutler doesn't grow up he'll let them down, too.

The best thing about this soap opera is that it's over. The entire thing was stupid and unnecessary.
