When people say that making the course longer hurts the long hitters they are total morons. The course is longer for everyone. It is actually hurting the short knockers (Corey Pavin 6 years ago) more than the long hitters. Tiger will still be hitting mid range irons to the greens while the short knockers are hitting 3 or 4 irons. The only way to penalize the longball hitters is to make the fairway 10 yards wide after 300 yards like Europe did when they hosted their last rider cup.

Langs, I agree. lengthening the course to a rediculous length really does two things IMO.

1. spreads the field out, the short hitters can't keep up so they fall behind by more strokes

2. protects the course from giving up extremely low scores (tiger"proofing")

by saying it "hurts" the long hitters is true in the scense that they can't shoot as low, but in comparison to the field it really helps them because the short knockers can't keep up (Bethpage Black when many couldn't even reach the fairway on 10 b/c it was 280 yrd carry)

This has to be the B.O. that ABC was dreaming about. Tiger in the lead with at least 5 guys (mostly big names) right on his heels. The only thing that would be better would be if Phil was one of the guys in the hunt.

God, I love Tiger Woods, and it amazes me that someone could regain focus so quickly, after dealing with such a great loss. Seeing him in tears at the conclusion of the tournament, was a pretty touching thing, and I can't be more happy that he won the tournament.
