He must have been concerned enough with finishing the regular season--he took your team to an undefeated season. No harm, no foul. Like I said before, he left for greener pastures. Get over it.

let me spell this out for you so you stop stalking my posts with that stupid violin guy...

1) I realize is NoD is a greener pasture
2) I'm not complaining that he left...I was convinced he was leaving weeks before it happened.
3) I still wanted him worrying about West Viriginia, Illinois and Pitt instead of hiring PR firms to begin campaigning for a job that wasn't even open yet.
4) I have no problem with him not coaching UC's bowl game. In fact, once the story broke that he was meeting with NoD BEFORE the Pitt game, I wanted UC to remove that option and given how is players reacted to the news it was a good thing.

People keep mentioning how Kelly left CMU to take over UC before their bowl game in 06...now my memory may be fading, but I do believe when Dantonio left he took almost the entire coaching staff with him to MSU immediately to begin recruiting. UC had something like three coaches left and was put in the position of having to poach a coach quickly...not saying it was the right thing to do but, again, pointing out it is the nature of this business and I, for one, have not ONCE complained or cried about Kelly not coaching the Sugar Bowl.

Now..please...stalk somebody else. :)

Not at CMU he didn't.. 19-16. Then he won with someone elses team ina league where John L Smith and Rich Rod were super stars.

The overall record doesn't give full credit to what he did at CMU.

CMU was at the bottom of the MAC EVERY year. in the previous 3 years to Kelly's arrival, they had won exactly 10 games while losing 25.

Kelly's first year, with limited talent and no momentum in the program, was a 4-7 year. The next year was 6-5 as he started to fully get his system and his players into place. The year after that (2006), they won the MAC for the first time since 1994 as well as they were in a bowl game in those 12 years also.

Look at what that very same team has done since then....2 more MAC championship game wins AND 3 more bowl games.

The guy built that program essentially from the ground and it's still going. My guess is that whoever gets hired at Cincy may find a year or two of success as well.

Put this guy in a place like Ntre Ame and it COULD, from past history, work out very well for him and for them.

Records and whatnot pulled from here: http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/mac/central_michigan/index.php

If you aren't complaining that he left and aren't whining about him leaving, then why continue posting childish insults of him on BP?

Like I said before, UC won all of those games you listed. No harm, no foul. Why continue to whine about something that didn't negatively affect UC? Let it go.

buckeyesin07, I am of the same opinion as Sandgk, I think you have H&G confused with some other poster. H&G is NOT a bUCkeye country homer for Cincinnati--far from it. He is a respected poster on this board.

Question one: Do you pass on your dream job while still at an old job?
I'll take that. In 1982 I was offered a job at Wyoming City Schools in Cincinnati. I was already under contract with Hamilton County Education Service Center. More money, better benefits, great community to teach in, but they wanted me to break my contract right then and there. It was early November and I wouldn't accept unless they would wait until Semester break. It's still a dream job in my mind, but I felt I had an obligation to honor my first contract till the semester ended.

Question two: Doesn't this scenario reflect more on Ntre Ame than Kelly himself?
Don't know, because neither party is willing to talk about that, but if I was certain that Dick Wad and Kelly were given ultimatums to leave their schools in a lurch I wouldn't have the respect for that eoither school that I once had

Question three: Usually when I coach leaves and takes a new job, the university doesn't want him to coach. That's entirely proper, don't you think? Strawman.
If that were the case I guess I'd feel differently. In which case if I were the school I'd want one hell of a pre-nup, one that gave the AD the freedom to fire someone whenever he suspected he no longer had the man's loyalty.

I seriously believe you should read post #350 and rethink who owes the apology to whom.
Yeah, clearly the use of 'daft' makes him the petty/childish one here. :roll2:

Kelly certainly opened himself up for plenty of criticism, and I'd say H&G has been more civil in the Kelly/Cinci threads than most of us buckeyes.

This was your original slam against H&G. That he was posting childish insults against Kelly. Emphasis added so you might actually understand what it was that you wrote.

Which post asks if you are daft.

Which post makes no insult of Kelly at all - as you claimed in the first quoted post above.

I seriously think you need to apologize to H&G for the demonstrably false accusation you level against him.

Home of football coach Kelly egged - UPI.com

CINCINNATI, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Former University of Cincinnati football coach Brian Kelly said his Cincinnati home was hit by eggs in the wake of his decision to coach football at Notre Dame.

Kelly, who agreed last week to take over as football coach at the University of Notre Dame, said Sunday via the social networking service Twitter that his home was hit by numerous eggs, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Monday.

"Spent most of the morning on the phone with recruits. House got egged last night and the sign on the lawn wasn't a for sale sign," Kelly said on Twitter.

"Family dinner included a side dish of scrambled eggs (lol) Kidding aside the people of Cincy have been awesome," he added, using the abbreviation for "laugh out loud."

Kelly's former Cincinnati Bearcats team is scheduled to take on the Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
