New Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly's 'dream' could become nightmare if he doesn't win big
The Irish faithful expect the 48-year-old Kelly, the son of an alderman who seriously considered entering politics when he graduated from tiny
Assumption College in
Worcester, to produce similar landslide results in
South Bend. But he will face skepticism because the school - which had an initial list of 18 candidates - could not lure a bigger name such as
Bob Stoops or
Urban Meyer.
They will not be satisfied with another 6-6 season like the one Notre Dame suffered through this fall. And they will expect 10 or more wins within three years.
"We don't have a five-year plan," Kelly said. "We have a five-minute plan and we'll start to work on it immediately. As for timetables, I don't want to get into that, but I expect our young men to play at a high level immediately."
