Favre is well past his prime and no team is going to want to pay top dollar to a guy who doesn't have much production left in him. Favre is a legend in GB and should just finish out the year there and go out in that fashion. I don't mind GB, but does he honestly think he's going to take that team to a SB anyway? I have always appreciated watching Favre and he is by all means a shoe-in for the HOF, but I think the longer he stays in GB, the more politicking he tries to do and he seems to get crankier and more pissed off every season. He might make some sense here, but whether he does or not, he is the quarterback of this team, not the GM. If he wants to get into management, he should retire and do so. JMHO.

It will be interesting to see how the management handles this one.

I think it's handled, they're not trading him, he really doesn't want to go anywhere anyway. He just wants a target to throw deep to. :biggrin: Deety, break out the shoes.

It's a tough situation for Green Bay. He's been a legend, but he should have retired several years ago. When you throw as many Int's as he has over the last few years, you shouldn't need anybody to tell you to retire, you should be smart enough to just walk away. This guy is going to make 11 mill this year and I doubt if any other team would pay him anything near that. I can't think of any good team that would want him to be a starter. I have always respected and liked him, but he needs to retire.

Favre clears the air on trade speculation

When the Packers failed to acquire Randy Moss, was Brett Favre angry enough to ask his way out of Green Bay? The three-time NFL MVP said no on Monday.
"I was frustrated a couple weeks back when Randy Moss was traded to New England. I never wanted to be traded and I don't want to be traded. I want to be in Green Bay," Favre said Monday in a statement posted on the team's Web site. "I want to finish my career as a Packer. Sometimes when I get frustrated I let my emotions get the better of me.
"As I said in February when I announced that I was coming back, I am excited about the young talent on our team and the improvements we're going to see from one year to the next. I really enjoy the young guys I'm playing with. I'm working hard down in Mississippi right now, rehabbing, and I plan to be in the best shape of my life. I look forward to playing with this team and seeing what we can do. I think we can be pretty good."

Wow can you imagine Brett in the best shape of his life, especially at his age? If Brett can get out of the pocket and get his arm strength up even more, watch out. Thats a pretty bold statement.

Is it believable? This is the same guy who said last year's team had the most talent he'd been around. Anyone still buy that line?

Brett was furious with the packers, may have mentioned the T-word, and now he's excited about this team? Something doesn't add up there.

Even if it is believable, his physical condition wasn't the root cause of endless INTs.

What a fucking primadonna. The Packers would do well to either trade his ass, or if they can't find an offer, cut him. Sure, the fans will raise hell, but so what? Where else are they going to go? It's about the TEAM, not the player. They have to move on. The 49ers let Montana go. The Dolphins basically told Marino to take a hike and he retired.
Basically Favre will retire after next year and a 7-9 or 6-10 record, the Pack will still not know if Aaron Rodgers is their QB, and they will be 2 years further behind in building a contender than if they got rid of him last year.

This is getting as bad as the Roger Clemens fiasco. Just move on or retire for godsake. I am so sick of more important than the game types holding teams hostage for their services. I could give a rip who Clemens pitches for anymore and Favre is getting close to the same territory. Just shut up and play or retire now with some dignity; make a decision already and stick with it.

I still think Favre is the only option the Packers have right now. If they traded and had another viable option then that might not be the case. Trading him, releasing him, forcing him to retire do nothing but alienate the fan base and make your team worse. I don't think either is a good option. A deep threat at WR and a consistent running game would both be better choices, and the interceptions would go down dramatically.

Favre planning to skip minicamp, but hasn't yet been excused

MILWAUKEE - Although Brett Favre plans to skip the Green Bay Packers' mandatory minicamp this weekend, he might not be excused by Packers coach Mike McCarthy.
McCarthy was not available for comment on Tuesday, but team spokesman Jeff Blumb said that as far as McCarthy was concerned, "the camp is mandatory."
The Packers' three-day minicamp begins Friday, and Favre could face fines from the team if he fails to show up without being formally excused.
Favre told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun-Herald that because he is unable to practice while recovering from offseason ankle surgery, he is going to stay home in Mississippi - where he'll apparently try his hand at party planning.
"They were going to have me sit out anyway," Favre said, in a story that appeared on the paper's Web site on Tuesday. "To be honest, we have (daughter) Brittany graduating in two weeks. Instead of going up there and not doing anything, I will be better off being at home because of graduation parties and banquets."

Favre now expected to attend minicamp

MILWAUKEE - Packers quarterback Brett Favre has changed his mind and now is expected to attend the team's mandatory minicamp this weekend, a person familiar with the situation said Wednesday.
The person, who requested anonymity because neither side planned to officially announce Favre's intention to attend, said Favre is now expected to be present when the three-day minicamp opens in Green Bay on Friday.
On Tuesday, Favre told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun-Herald that because he is unable to practice while recovering from offseason ankle surgery, he planned on staying home in Mississippi to assist in preparations for his daughter's upcoming high school graduation.

If you saw today's NFL Live, they had a big story about Brett and the rumors. Everything that has been going on lately about Brett wanting a trade has been a complete rumor. His agent denies any trade demands as well as Brett himself.
