Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

Just for clarification on the game tape...

There are videos taken from high above from each direction of the field. It allows coaches to study formations. It is not your typical broadcast view.

The game tape coaches study is typically the one I described in the first sentence. It is still ridiculous, IMO, not to give that tape to the Beavers. When I was at FSU working for the bball program, we'd send tapes to anyone who requested them, and we'd request tape without any issues from any other program.

I understand football is a bit different, but it's just added motivation for the opposing team, and he's withholding tape of them underperforming and sucking against Northern Iowa. I promise you the coaching staff at OSU used this as extra motivation. The reason this has become a story is because everyone in the industry recognizes how ridiculous and idiotic Biff is for doing it.

Disagree. I don't care for Bret at all...but I agree with not giving film. Give to get...I'm sure Oregon State got the film regardless.

That's the point. They probably got it from Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa would have rights to that game as well, and you never know when Northern Iowa will want tape from Oregon State.

Everyone reciprocates because at some point you'll need a tape back.

To withhold the tape from OSU, knowing they will get it, is just giving extra motivation and looking stupid for no reason, IMO.

I understand that. I just disagree from another point of view.

I see your coaches point of view, but Oregon State would have traded tapes but for a Hurricane. Bret could have just given them the tape knowing the UNI would give up,and saved him the grief. Bret has learned he has bigger problems anyway.

Today was his first regular season non-conference loss.

I didn't say "regular season". So...there's that. I know he hasn't lost a shit ton of non-con games. My post was made partailly in jest, though Biff has proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he need not lose to embarrass himself, his employer, and the B1G, as well as bring shame upon his family...from his ancestors that were herded across the land bridge ages ago, to his grandchildren's grandchildren.

Edit: Basically said the same thing as Mr. Lucas in the post directly preceding mine.

The fact that he went around to the rest of the Big Ten and asked them not share video either really ratchets up the "I'm a stupid douche" and possibly a spoiled child factor as well.

It is not clear to me that Mr. Bielema is dealing particularly well with the loss of his assistant coach, people witholding game tapes, his loss to Oregon State, and is narrow win the previous week.
