Mike Markuson is out as the University of Wisconsin football team's offensive line coach just two games into his tenure with the Badgers, the Wisconsin State Journal has learned.
The move was first reported by BadgerBlitz.com, a Rivals website, and a source with contacts inside the program confirmed the development.
BadgerBlitz reported that Bart Miller will be promoted from offensive quality control assistant to replace Markuson, who spent the last 14 seasons in the SEC under coach Houston Nutt, first at Arkansas and then at Mississippi.
The Badgers have struggled in the running game, despite the presence of a Heisman Trophy finalist running back in Montee Ball, two-year starters in Ricky Wagner at left tackle and Travis Frederick at center and two others -- Ryan Groy and Rob Havenstein -- who entered the season with starting experience.
Wisconsin was limited to 35 net rushing yards in Saturday's 10-7 loss to Oregon State, although three sacks for 41 yards contributed to that total.
