Braylon Edwards (official drop thread)

The only negative to the trade is that it may send a message to the other players that they can whine and cry their way out of Cleveland if they become too big of a distraction.
if they act like Edwards and perform like Edwards I really don't care about the negative just don't let the door hit them in the ass as they leave.

Now that I've had some time to reflect, this trade had to happen for two reasons:

1. We were not going to win with Braylon Edwards anyway this year.

2. He wasn't going to resign for next year.

The only negative to the trade is that it may send a message to the other players that they can whine and cry their way out of Cleveland if they become too big of a distraction.

there were really only two options at this point:

1. trade him like they did.
2. slap the tag on him as a RFA. Pay him a ridiculous salary. Hope some team will give up a 1st and 3rd for him.

since no team in their right mind would give up a 1st and 3rd for edwards scissorhands, you have him for one more year, where he'd be a distraction yet again, and then eventually sign elsewhere as a UFA.

so, long story short, get what they got for him, or keep him for one more year at a large salary, then get nothing for him.

Agree 100%. This was a money deal and a salvage operation. Basically the same deal they could have done in the spring with the Giants. Two players and two picks.

It's funny that Braylon gets traded and the Browns win a game with no offense while the Jets lose to a team that they should have beat. Maybe he brought the suck to us from scum and now he has taken it to NY.

I didn't watch the game. Did butterfingers drop any balls?

He dropped a possible TD pass (would have been a nice catch, but not spectacular) in the 4th but was bailed out by a weak PI call. I guess he had a couple nice catches earlier in the game.

He made a couple circus catches in traffic, including one down the sideline on a beautifully thrown ball by Sanchez, then he dropped at least two in crunch time which, while not easy, where all easier than the catches he made in Qs 1, 2, and 3. The two 4th Q drops hit him on both hands. The Jets wound up scoring on both those drives anyway, so he wasn't a huge liability.

The Jets lost because their defense couldn't stop the Wildcat or Henne, who looked like a seasoned pro, not because of the Jets offense or Braylon.

Yeah, but just imagine of Braylon was at that game. That game would have hit the critical mass of suck and killed us all if he was still a Brown.

The Browns did pretty well without him. They only missed two opportunities to drop passes against Buffalo.
