Braxton vs. Bridgewater (Split Discussion)

Braxton is thought to be a sure thing to commit to OSU. Teddy is far from a sure thing. I think you are missing that we all have a feeling how it will play out. Braxton could very likely be an early commit, which might make convincing Teddy to come to OSU as a QB much more difficult. The best chance, to me, of getting both of these two athletes with the least amount of risk of losing both would be to recruit Braxton as a QB and Teddy as a WR/QB.

Yeah, and I still can't figure out why one would take Braxton over Teddy.

While there are no "sure things" in recruiting, it's been communicated to us that Braxton is as much of a sure thing as we've seen. Our odds of pulling Teddy from FL, while not impossible, are a lot less likely.

And if we go hard at Teddy, miss out, and have already missed out on Braxton, then we do not have an elite QB to show for our efforts. Braxton is also going to be one of the top 5 QBs in the country. He's not chopped liver lol.

Have you seen Braxton? This kid is going to be all world...I would be shocked if he wasn't top 5 in the country. Teddy is a great player but I myself prefer Braxton. Truthfully I prefer both but it likely won't happen at the same position, so our only chance imo is to offer as a WR.

After watching both Braxton and Teddy's highlight videos, it seems to me that Teddy has a better arm and is more polished as a quarterback than Braxton while Braxton is more of an explosive athlete. I would be plenty happy with Braxton as the buckeye's quarterback, but does anyone know what Braxton's thoughts are about playing wide receiver/slot position while someone like Teddy (or maybe even Graham if he plays really well) plays quarterback? I can't imagine having Teddy and Braxton playing offense together in S&G.

At this point, I agree but I think Braxton has all the tools at QB, even if he is raw right now...he could play WR and probably be a 5 star there as well, but I think it's a waste of his talents as well. If it could work out that way, that's great but I just don't think it will work out like that.

What didn't you like about Braxton? Just curious...

(Question is directed toward Berryfan)

It's not something that I don't like about Braxton, but I think Teddy is better and for one major reason is that Teddy plays in a more competitive area, stiffer competition.

I got to thinking that to really see what each can do one on one may come down to one of those high school all star games, like UA game or Army All American one to really see what they do against top competition in the land...and that likely will occur in the not too distant future.

We can agree to disagree.

I have seen his highlights. I have relatives that live in Troy and perhaps in the fall I will get out to game since it is nearby to Dayton.

Ohio State would have difficulty landing Bridgewater out of Florida. Reasonable minds can disagree about the better quarterback, but there's no doubt that Ohio State has a much better chance of signing Braxton. It's simply not worth it to jeopardize that chance by recruiting Teddy as a quarterback.

I'm going to have to disagree with you as well.

One, the competition is not all that different. Teams like St. X, Colerain, Elder and Wayne have more than held their own against the top teams from Florida over recent years, so the competition argument doesn't hold a ton of water. He's also gone head to head with guys like Jordan Hicks who are considered national recruits.

Two, it is hard to just compare highlight reels since Miller missed most of his sophomore year with injury. So, you are comparing his freshman highlights as a 14 year old and a few games early in his sophomore year to highlights of a guy at a different age.

Lastly, I prefer a QB who has his heart completely set on being a QB (Pryor, VY, Pat White, Eric Crouch, Reggie McNeal) because they love the position, regardless of their pro prospects at a different position. Seems like Braxton is that type of guy while Teddy who is looking at other factors. (I don't blame Teddy, he could be three and done first rounder at WR, but still I like the mindset of wanting the ball in hands every play out of my QB.)

Absolutely, I respect your opinion. However, the GWOC is a very competitive conference that produces tons of D1 talent and Buckeye talent at that. Centerville, Piqua, Springfield, Trotwood, Northmont, and Wayne are all tough schools generally. There are a couple duds but overall the conference is a beast. The competition in Florida is tough as well where Teddy plays, but as tlinc said, it likely isn't any tougher than the schedule Wayne plays by the way the Herbstreit matchups have ended up. Wayne plays a pretty brutal schedule next year with Princeton (Spencer Ware's team), Canton McKinley (Steve Miller), Glenville (the list goes on, no explanation needed), Trotwood, Northmont, Springfield, and and Centerville. Quite honestly, I'd like to see a tougher schedule in the country.

I have seen both videos and I think Miller is the best qb to play in Ohio since Schleister.

I love the fact that the kid in NC has gotten 20 offers already....that will make it easier for Braxton to comitt earlier and help recruit others.

I do have one question about Bridgewater. Is he just playing Miami right now or will he end up like most at his HS and attend Miami? Why isn't he giving them any love?

How are we even comparing the level of play that these kids face? It's obvious Miami Northwestern plays FAR better competetition than Wayne, week in and week out! When has when even played anyone in the GCL? They've been to 1 state final game and that was 10yrs ago! Miami NW sends far more players to college and the NFL. I think we have a far better chance of landing Miller, but I like Bridgewater's game, but don't think that he'd come up north and change positions for our team. But comparing their HS is laughable because So Florida produces far better talent than what's in dayton, and no I'm not a biased FL guy, I'm actually from Cincinnati, just being honest with some of the OH homers.
