Interesting to see certain people personalize the definition of brainwashing, making it dependent on the subject matter. Even more interesting watching them project that half-assed attempt at reason upon me. :roll2:

When a kid is parroting positions of faith and politics at such young ages it has nothing to do with them using rational thought to get there and everything to do with having those thoughts drilled to them by parents and assorted elders. It matters not what those beliefs are (attention half-assed attempts at reason) and everything with crafting opinions that will often last a lifetime based on little more than mimicking those around them.

It's hardly an accident that politicians defend government-run education to the death, and religions create their own schools. It's all about making sure children are taught at an early age to believe what those who run the school want them to believe...

It would be interesting to observe (as a fly on the wall, so to speak) Jake's own parenting style. I can't conceive of how his kids would learn anything, since it seems like telling your kids your own opinions is "brainwashing" in his eyes. :ohwell:

Or maybe it's only the act of telling your kids opinions that Jake disagrees with.

That's absolutely right-I watched the NatGeo speical on the "New Black Panters", and if you did a 180 on the skin tone, and replaced "cracker" w/ n&^**#r, you would have the Klan-ignorant, Jew hating, stomping on American flags, everybody from their own race laughing at them,etc. They interviewed Bobby Seale, and he basically said "Why did these idiots take my organizations name?"

OK, so I finally watched the video, and darned if I can figure out what these kids said that is so objectionable. Most of the video was taken up with their saying that it's time for everyone to take responsibility for themselves, which is a straight Republican position. I also liked hearing black kids aspiring to be engineers and architects.

I will admit that the unison chants contained a lot of language I couldn't decipher; is that where the "scary stuff" was contained?

And whatever Taoshippy finds objectionable in the Church teaching is certainly more tame than that, not that this is really that bad.
