Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

If TSUN fires Hoke without lining up his replacement ahead of time, they're going to end up with another dumpster fire HC search and someone just as [Mark May]ty to replace him when Miles and Harbaugh each say no for the third time.

Since they won't be able to line anyone up ahead of time because no one wants anything to do with that sinking ship, what I'm really saying is TSUN should just keep Hoke.

In the interim, they could appoint the guy who the idiot Michigan fan base thinks they "stole away" from Saban--Doug Nussmeier. You know, the guy who leads an offense that has scored exactly two TDs in three games against Power 5 conference teams (with one of those TDs being in garbage time against Minnesota).

He should be fired and today simply for this. Absolutely disgusting

Not directed at you Coqui. I've just read a lot of people that have left this situation completely on Hoke.
For as long as Hoke has been there, it's been more than evident that the guy is not a Coach at this level. Yet, season after season, kids buy into his bullshit, and decide to play there.
It's just like the ESPN article I read this morning where Bolden is parroting the coach-speak about execution while tearing up defending this blowhard. If the kids continue to drink this jackasses kool-aid, then, to me, they're in hook-line-sinker. If he puts them in harms way, then they have some responsibility in that.

I understand. I only mention Hoke because he is the figurehead of the team. Someone had to tell Bellamy (or whatever his name was) not to worry about going on the field once he had a helmet. That's the part I put on Hoke. (and only because I assumed the QB coach was still with Morris)

Absolutely. Like I said, not completely disagreeing nor directly at you. I just can't help but think of Jim Jones and his cadre.

Brady Hoke: Michigan can win title

Michigan (2-3) is now 1-8 in its past nine games against Power 5 conference opponents. Hoke said the team's goal of winning a Big Ten title is still achievable despite a losing record five games into the regular season.

"I think this team can still win a championship," he said. "I really do, but we've got to play much better and we have to support each other as we do it."

Hoke said earlier in the week that he doesn't have time to think about his job security in the middle of the season because it's not fair to his players.

Michigan would owe Hoke $3 million if the school fired him before January. The buyout in his contract drops to $2 million Jan. 1. The school paid Hoke a $1.5 million "stay bonus" this past January and has invested $12.26 million in him in his four years with the program.

Entire article: http://espn.go.com/college-football...t-fazed-big-house-boos-coaching-seat-heats-up

Hoke also said that he thinks the world is fat, brown cows give chocolate milk, and there is a tooth fairy.

So it seems like there's a lot of incentive to keep him til Jan 1, especially since they aren't going to find an immediate replacement. If they had half a brain they'd offer the bank to Dantonio + Narduzzi. I'm not sure they'd jump, but that's a proven staff. If they go for the greatest flashy thing, they're setting themselves up for another RichRod experiment and transition with different types of players.

Either way, I'm warming up the popcorn. Just hope they don't fire Brandon.

How realistic is it to expect a 16 or 17 year old kid to make that connection? How are they going to know what a high level professional coach should look and act? From their HS experience ?
That's something that comes down more on their parents imo. And in a concussed state, he really doesn't have a clue what's going on or the danger that he's in.
It's shocking to me that they didn't call a timeout or just direct snap to a RB. FFS punting at that point would've made more sense.

I hate scUM and am having quite a fun time with all the schadenfreude... but I can't really bring myself to laugh when people's long-term health is put at serious risk. Maybe I have that perspective b/c I have a family member with permanent damage from repeated injuries.
But to me it'd be like laughing at that kid whose fighting cancer.

If this is directed towards me, then please understand that I'm not laughing nor am I wishing for and enjoying harm that kid's may receive Up North. Like I said, there's just some disturbing level of bullshit consumption going on that is bothersome to me.

I can't imagine Dantonio biting on that hook.

I can't either, but as an AD think you have to make that offer. Give them massive raises and the keys to the city. I don't really buy the idea that you lose points for reaching out to different guys and not landing them, so long as they have good rep. I mean, did Texas lose credibility for the Saban fiasco? It was wildly entertaining for us plebeians, but it didn't seem to scare high level prospects off when it didn't work.

That part wasn't -- more at a lot of the previous posts in general. Sorry, I probably should've made that clear.

Their Bo is coaching the defense. They will not lower themselves to offer, nor can they afford the recruiting fallout when he says no (and awaits the MSU job in 5-7 years).

For some reason I was under the impression that Mattison wants to stay a Coordinator? He's also kind of past it. IMO, a real "Bo" hiring would be snagging Narduzzi by himself.
BTW I enjoy discussing this so I can laugh even more when they end up with another Hoke Hopeful or Charlie Weiss retread.

I was talking about Narduzzi (omitted the EL, fixed it).

This is also the first good defense (relatively speaking) that Mattison has fielded in about 3 years. He still hasn't defended Braxton's offense either (not even the hideous Bollman version).

Before everyone gets the pitchforks out, have we heard an official concussion diagnosis? It's not like we haven't seen Braxton a little loopy looking only to go back in three plays later. Just saying sometimes a guy may...be more scared of a head shot than actually concussed.

B-list candidates if they can't get either Harbaugh would include Dan Mullen (if you can win in Starkville you can win anywhere), Kevin Sumlin (though why he'd leave aTm is beyond me), Mike Gundy, Craig Bohl and Jim Tressel.

That last one gives me the willies, but it would be interesting to hear the interview if Brandon decided to pursue him.
