Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

I can't imagine JT even interviewing.

Dave Brandon should be on the phone to every single big time tsun athletic booster asking for pledges to get Harbaugh or Miles. Probably won't get a Harbaugh, but I really think the bad blood that kept them from getting Lester last time has dissipated. He may not be the savior, but a few years of Vlloyd type seasons could be enough to detoxify the job enough that it won't be impossible to get a star the next time.

Before everyone gets the pitchforks out, have we heard an official concussion diagnosis? It's not like we haven't seen Braxton a little loopy looking only to go back in three plays later. Just saying sometimes a guy may...be more scared of a head shot than actually concussed.

The pitchforks are out because Hoke lost to Minnesota and the offense has regressed. For most, the player safety issue concern just allows them to demand his immediate firing from some sort of moral high ground.

The video on this includes the plays before the hit, and after. The kid was staggering on the field, literally.

I can't recall ever seeing a coach leave a player in a game who was moving like that.

And it is seriously pathetic that Hoke claims he didn't even know his QB was damaged. All kidding aside, this is ridiculous. Hoke is a joke. What the hell was he doing on the sidelines? Phoning in his post-game Domino's order?

"I don't know if he had a concussion or not; I don't know that," Hoke said. "Shane's a pretty competitive, tough kid. And Shane wanted to be the quarterback, and so, believe me, if he didn't want to be, he would've come to the sideline or stayed down."
Hoke later was asked if he had seen Morris looking "wobbly."

"I didn't see it. I can only answer for me," Hoke said.

I've seen players look like their leg was broken only to find out after the game they didn't even have a sprain. Not trying to bash the guy, but if I listed the injuries I believed Braxton to have by the way he looked on the field, I'd pronounce him dead. I don't like defending Hoke, but Sugar Shane was getting beat up in his first start. Sometimes a kid checks out mentally from fear and acts injured when he is no such thing.

If it turns our he was concussed, then of course he should have been removed from the game. If not, Brady didn't do anything dangerous by leaving a scared player in the game to toughen him up. Stupid regardless, but not dangerous

It doesn't really matter if he has the concussion or not. If he's showing signs the coach shouldn't be risking the player.

The video of him almost feinting and stumbling around after he got up seems pretty conclusive to me. Nonetheless he stayed in for the next play... and then they pulled him. Then Gardner lost his helmet, and they put him back in before he had even been seen by the trainers.
I've seen Braxton get up favoring a knock a million times - but he has his wits about him. He still has a sense of balance... he's not about to collapse like a wet noodle. Though in hindsight, I think it's pretty clear Brax shouldn't have finished that Clemson game. But not for a head injury.

You're conflating physical injuries with head injuries.

It doesn't really matter if he has the concussion or not. If he's showing signs the coach shouldn't be risking the player.

Exactly. The only way to know definitively is to have him checked -- but Hoke put him back in before he was even seen by the medical staff.

And before he goes back out on the field again, they should be doing tests to find out if he's concussed.

It's been pointed out elsewhere that tubby also played Gardner last year with what turned out to be a broken foot--after ordering him to stop limping around.

It's possible that Brady suffers from a combination of stupidity and callousness. In the wrong situation, that could prove lethal.

Are we arguing whether Hoke is intentionally putting kids at risk or if Hoke is a clueless moron? I've only seen the short youtube clips but I'm not prepared to say he intentionally did anything. However, it has been well established that he is a clueless moron and the captain of the clown show up there.

I mean, the guy is trying to coach modern football, without a headset. No input, no communication with his staff upstairs during the game. He is apparently a spectator, as far as I can tell. I half expect to see him over there with a basket of fries and a beer.
