Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

Maybe a quad expert can explain this to me but before last night's loss to Northwestern I think Ohio State and Indiana were about "even" when it came to getting into the Dance.

Here is where I am confused
Ohio State beats Indiana at Indiana
Ohio State loses to Michigan State at home and on the road (Ward played both games)
Indiana beats Michigan State on the road (Michigan State shout about 10% from the FT line almost giving the game to Miller's boys)
Indiana beats Michigan State at home (Ward does not play for Michigan State)

I do not understand why everyone is so giddy about Indiana beating Michigan State when Ward played probably his worse game against them at home and did not play against them on the road. Granted, we lost to them both times but Ward played both times.

Finally, we beat Indiana at their place. People talk about all of Indiana's quad one wins but the majority of them took place early in the season like early December.

If you ask me before last night's game, I think Ohio State's resume was better than Indiana's… maybe but it was close and maybe I am a homer.

I don't know anything about Indiana's resume other than what you've posted here.....but it seems like you're trying to dismiss them in the game where Ward played just because he played poorly? What if Indiana made him play poorly? Don't they get credit for that?

the only trouble is they did not make them play poorly. Ward shot about 10% from the free-throw line. Missed about 15(?) free throws and the entire team was not much better. Indiana had nothing to do with that.

Michigan State was 8-22 from the line and Ward was 1--9. Many of them were front ends.

Indiana is sitting at 2nd in Lundardi's first four out. If they finish the season strong it's looking like they could sneak in. Would be quite a twist if they got in and we didn't. Ohio State and Indiana could end up right next to each other on teams the committee has to pick between.

At this point if we make it, baring a huge upset against Wisconsin or a big run in the Big Ten tournament, we are probably looking at Dayton or an 11 seed. We might be able to win in Dayton but are almost certain to lose right away if we get an 11. We might be able to be competitive in a 7/10 or 8/9 matchup but we pretty much have blown that opportunity.

I feel the best option for this season is to go to the First Four in Dayton. We will at least have a chance to win an NCAA Tournament game with hopefully a hometown crowd. It's better than getting an 11 seed and just getting blown out or playing in the meaningless NIT which most of the players will probably view as a big disappointment.
