Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

Ohio State was actually the 4th 2 seed. The committee no longer follows the S-curve. They rank the teams 1 to 68 and go down the list trying to get the higher teams closer to home while following the seeding rules. The official seed list can be found here:

Whatever works I guess. Ohio State is playing better than all of the other 2 seeds (with Cryami being right there), they drew easily the weakest 1-seed in history and get their first two games in Dayton.

Greetings from New Rochelle, I see you guys are not showing the Gaels much love. A little about the Gaels. We try to run as much as possible and go as far as our 3pt shooting. We start a BCS level backcourt with Momo Jones and Sean Armand. If they are shooting well we can give teams fits. For a mid major we actually have quite a few BCS level recruits who transferred in but we are playing a little short due to losing a 6'9'' center and 6'5'' wing player to injury and mid season transfer. Never know which Iona team will show up. Last years NCAA game against BYU is proof of that, I am sure you all remember we had a 25 pt lead in the first half and fell flat in the 2nd half and blew the game. We were hoping to be placed in Philly and take our chances with Georgetown but instead got a real bad break by playing what amounts to a road game against OSU. Anyway hoping for a good game. Going back to our Valvano days all we can do is "dare to dream"

Welcome, Gaelsfan...after what happened a few years back against Siena, I look at no opponent lightly.

Yeah. This streak has been nice. Ohio State is playing some winning basketball. Not the best, but they're playing the type of ball to be in every game and the kids have found a winning attitude to close them out, with different guys rising to the occassion. Still...the shortcomings are still real and they can still lead this team into an early exit.

Thing is, I have more trepidation about the 2nd round matchup (Iowa St./ND) than I do with what would follow in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Guess I'm seeing a real "boom or bust" situation.

Who knows. Just win.

Don't remember the BYU game, but I know Iona has had some talented players there recently. Glover was really good for you, and Momo Jones can start for anybody. He is one of the best scorers in the NCAA, obviously he has the stats to prove it. But OSU's strength is defending, in particular defending the guard positions - they can hold any team in the country to a game in the 60s. If you give up 70 to OSU you will lose. Obviously, with the #2 seed historically winning like 95% of games against the #15 seed, you will not get a lot of people expecting Iona to win this game.

Welcome to BP! Every game makes me nervous, and I don't expect that to change before Friday. Looking forward to the game, and I wish you the best of luck and an early tourney exit. :p

The Gaels are getting more love here than Ohio State on your message board.

Hey, anyway, welcome to BP. Oh, and take anything experto (one of the Ohio State fans posting on your board) says with a grain of salt. He is the Scout board's local crazy man, and I am not even sure he is an Ohio State fan.
