I didn't vote ND that high either. I'm also not one of the people who had Pissburgh ranked the previous week, either.

On my poll Louisville didn't move down because I did not want to penalize them for getting played tough in a rivalry game on the road. I think their case is different from Miami. I think Miami played way below their potential, while Louisville faced a Kentucky team that almost played up to their level

No one has come forward yet and said that they had ND at 18 or better, but from what everyone else is saying there has to be at least a couple people who have ND in the top 10 to make up for the people who didn't even put them in the poll.

I guess, with my poll, I'm trying to put less stock in how teams were perceived at the beginning of the season, and more on how they played. Obviously, the first couple weeks of the season you have to take into consideration what they were ranked before.

Notre Dame looked as impressive as they could have hoped for...they will either play themselves into it, or play out. I have no qualms with dropping teams if they dodn't look impressive in a win or if a key player gets hurt in a win (See Cal)...although that is generally a "no no" from the AP and coaches perspective, I'm not going to give an undefeated USC the advantage just because they were preseason #1...if three teams go undefeated, the teams that play the best schedule, looks most impressive and that i think would win the head to head matchup will be #2.

In fact, if I think a 1 loss team is better than an undefeated one...I'll pu them up there.

Some 'splainin':

First of all, Oklahoma's out of the Top 25. They sucked. Tennessee dropped two spots. I feel very strongly that at least the top five spots should constantly reflect who would beat whom in a bowl matchup, and that's why I moved them below Texas and Ohio State. LSU didn't move anywhere in my poll. I didn't feel they should be penalized for not being able to play their game. California is still pretty high on my list, and I admit they might be overrated now that they've lost their QB. However, I feel an entire team earns a ranking, and just because a significant player goes down to injury, that doesn't mean they should automatically drop when they've otherwise done nothing on the field to warrant dropping them yet. Especially when they have a coach like Jeff Tedford. I actually dropped Florida State down one spot to #19 after beating Miami - that's because they sucked, even though they won. Miami gets the spot right below them, because they sucked that much more. I brought Notre Dame in at #25 for a cup of coffee before they get shelled by scUM next week. I don't think ND is all that good yet, but their win against Pittsburgh was impressive and deserved recognition, despite their opponent's mediocrity.

I had ND at 15th - I'm not a fan of ND, but they played like a top 20 team in Week 1 (handily beat a top 25 team on the road). Let's see how they stack up this week....

I also had Oklahoma out of the top 25 - losing to TCU at home, and managing only 10 points in the process? They'll have to win at least three in a row before they make it back on my list.

I also dropped Tennesse for an extremely unimpressive win over a "tune up" opponent.

I had FSU 4th (behind USC, Texas, OSU) for beating a top 10 team.

A lot of things should change after this weekend.

The only thing I question is that many people have both Tennessee and LSU ahead of Georgia. Georgia absolutely throttled BSU. Tennessee struggled with UAB while LSU hasn't even played a game yet. From what I saw following week 1, I would have Georgia in the Top-5 as the highest rated SEC team.

The best thing about this week's poll, IMO, is the jump that Georgia made, going from 12 to 5. But their whomping at Boise St. was the most impressive performance of the weekend (I moved them to 4th).

The biggest movement in the polls should occur in the first 2 weeks, when results can replace preseason guesses.

To me, the most disappointing thing is Tennessee still being #4. UAB just missed completing a pass that could have tied the game late in the 4th. I dropped them all the way to 10th.

I had ND 19th. They beat a decent team on the road. The only other teams that had a better road victory, IMO, were Georgia Tech (who I put 13th for a solid win at Auburn) and TCU, who I moved up to 14th. Do I think any of these teams will stay ranked that high - No. But to me, after games have been played, a poll isn't about what I expect to happen, but only about what has transpired on the field.

I expect Cal to drop because of the injured QB (and the backup starting 0 for 10), but I won't drop them until results indicate it.

I dropped Louisville, Virginia and Alabama out of my rankings because their wins were not impressive at all. And Oklahoma drops out for a home loss (Miami stays because they had a road loss to a team with talent, even though both teams looked terrible). Here's my voting this week:
