BP Poll Thread (with Week 1 updates)

I based my poll on who I thought would win in matchups... I know the final outcome will be much different (ie Louisville plays nobody... I'd be surprised if they didn't finish the season rated in the top 5... however I don't think they are the one of the top five teams in the country, so I didn't put them there).

My poll will change week by week. If a team loses to a scrub team they will fall like a rock. If they lose to a top tier team they might not fall at all if they played them close (ie if Fresno plays USC close but still loses they could actually move up in my poll.... depending on where I had them rated before).

I hate scUM. Why did you bring them up? Fucking Arabs.

I don't really remember my poll for sure, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now. I do know that I put OSU at 5, with Texas at 3 or 4. That was a tough call, because in trying to be fair and non-biased, I feel like I took it too far. At the same time, though, Texas had a better season than OSU last year, and returns 9 of 11 on defense. I think OSU will win the game (and therefore move up in my poll), but I didn't want to start OSU out that high. Which doesn't seem to make sense, because if I think OSU will win, shouldn't I have ranked them higher than Texass? Well, BACK OFF. :wink2:

Dumbass.. I had OSU at 2... and I'm fair and unbiased.

I put OSU at 2 because I looked at all the teams in front of us in the other polls and I don't think they would beat us. I have a new respect for the people who have to come up with the real preseason polls, because you don't really have a lot to go on except for teams like USC. I already have changes that I would make to my poll if I could do it again.

Exactly right.. I think the problem is that from the nothing to go on perspective... there's not much diefference between Ohio State, Tennessee, LSU and Texas... or much difference between Miami, Michigna or Va Tech... at least the way I see it... you could take those 2 groupings and put them in any order... and have a good reason for it... and you could, as people have... move one of the second group up into the first... etc.

Of course... the actual games will show us that we are idiots (or not)...

I vote on how good the I think the teams are compared to each other, I don't worry much about the schedule.. (As far as where I think they will finish)... and unless there's a blow out... I wouldn't expect me to move the loser of the September 10th game (*cough-texas-cough*) behind too many of the teams I have close to them...

What I did to come up with this list....

I crunched a crap load of numbers evaluating unit rankings, schedule, pre-season mag ratings, and various other factors which escape me at the moment. After adding up the ratings and listing the teams in terms of their "score" I had a list which looked much the same as what you see above. Then, I went through the list and tweaked it to include things which I dont think I could transform in to a number. For example, Ohio State was actually behind LSU in my number crunching. But, I decided LSU is more of a wild card than is OSU owing primarily to Les Miles being the new HC.

Then, after learning some things about FSU's problems, I dropped them fairly dramatically - they were originally something like 7th, and they have too many problems to be that good..
Essentially that's it. Gotta go to lunch, or I'd bore you with more "the mind of BKB" stuff.

Quite soon.

Also, we're goin to move the cutoff to Monday at noon going forward... unless there are other scheduling quirks like Miami v Fla State.

You and BKB are heros for getting this all together. As you could likely tell by the fact that I got my poll in just minutes after the Monday night game ended, I'm psyched to see how this progresses.
