So.... if the Big Boys all agreed that it's time for Boise and company to shut the fuck up, who is left for Fowler to vote for on his weekly ballot?

Anyway, it'll be interesting to learn which media hacks take these comments from the big wigs as some kind of personal attack.

I can almost hear them now...although it's a lot easier to pick on a single school president who in his own words "looks like Orville Redenbacher" than it is to go after all of the BCS conference presidents. The latter requires a bit more courage, and may well be stifled by the people who run ESPN if they actually want their BCS contract renewed someday.

I love seeing articles like this. And man, Delany looked like someone you would not want to cross in that picture. The presidents seem to be thoroughly pissed off. I'd watch out if I were a mid-major that's been rallying for all the extra attention.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that it was ORD_Buckeye for the WIN.

What I think Gee was truly getting at with his comments about going back to the bowl system is that the mid-majors (and their chorus at espn) are screaming to the rafters demanding a playoff as if no one else is entitled to an opinion or an interest in the matter. The Big Ten, Pac 10, Rose Bowl and others are just supposed to shut up and give them what THEY want. I think the subtext to Gee's remarks--and the basis for my hypothetical "what he should have said" post--were that they're free to go off and have "their" playoff, but are out of line in demanding that we come along. Of course, the reality is that "their" playoff without us would essentially generate the same interest as the old 1-AA playoffs did.
