i don't think you guys want to beat BSU for the National Title. for osu, it's about getting respect back from the nation IMO. If you beat BSU everyone will just say "oh, BSU shouldn't have been there anyway."

If you guys get to the NC, you better hope it's vs an SEC team. JMO

Ohio State can only beat the team in front of them.

A crystal football is a crystal football. if someone who is a fan of another team or a Mediot from eSPIN have issues, well, FUCK them.

If your Boise don't you have to take that deal to get a shot at a good BCS team on your home turf?

I've highlighted the bit that got this party started. The correct word is "you're", the contraction of "you are".

BB73;1764306; said:
That's you're opinion.

:wink2:

BB73 gives the classic BP response to this error in word usage, by using the contraction incorrectly where the possessive was the proper word.

They're are dodging nebraska because they don't want to take the chance that their BCS hopes will be over in week 1 in 2 out of 3 years.

You think that BB73 is talking about the point you were making and try to explain your point.

I think your missing the point

I use the possessive form incorrectly to further the oldest of BP jokes.

FCollins points out how old the joke is.

DaddyBigBucks;1764389; said:
The jokes are old by BP standards. It's the guys who are telling the jokes who are truly olde.

I poke fun at myself and BB73, though the truth is we're really not that old. Not like Best' or Cinci anyway.

And now we've come full circle.

No, I actually want Ohio State to literally destroy them in the NC game. I want this thing to be put to bed.

My opinion as a Boise St. fan for the past ~5-6 years (also a bigger OSU fan):

Let them play for the BCS championship if they go undefeated, and if there are one or less undefeated other teams.

I know there is a ton of venom out there about an undeserving BSU making the title game on the backs of two good teams, and a bunch of patsies, but hear me out here:

Boise State has had a pretty decent record for what they are. They beat TCU and Oklahoma in bowl games, and lost 4 bowl games by a total of 10 points. They've played much more consistently than a lot of programs have in this decade, and deserve their shot.

Would they be as deserving as some other teams? Potentially. But if we let them in, what are the major repercussions? If they win, it proves that BCS conferences are a sham, and we get a playoff system that we deserve. If they lose, then what? Could BSU getting hammered in a NC game really be worse than OSU-FL in 06, or USC-OK in 04?

Personally, I hope they make it, and lose to OSU.

had this discussion at work today actually.

co-worker asked
"how sick do you think Ohio State fans would be if they go to the NCG and had to play yet another SEC team?"

i answered "that's probably exactly who they'd want to play. those two losses put a dent in the armor of OSU in the national media. only one way to pop that dent out."

This isn't venom, this is reality.
1- Beating TCU is now counted among their big wins? Like Boise, TCU is a good program. But, like Boise, TCU isn't big time. TCU, at least, has some history of being a football power prior to the changes that brought up the current state of afairs.
2 - Does Ohio State get to say, "Well, hey, we beat #2 Texas in 2006 so we deserve a shot (in 2010)?" No? OK. Neither does BSU. I don't care who they beat in the past. It doesn't make a bit of difference in determining if they "deserve" a shot in 2010.

Would they be as deserving as some other teams? Potentially. But if we let them in, what are the major repercussions? If they win, it proves that BCS conferences are a sham, and we get a playoff system that we deserve. If they lose, then what? 1 - If they win, it proves that Boise can get up for 2 games a season. If they win it proves something that we already know - Boise is talented enough to win any single game. What it does not prove is that power conferences are a sham. What would prove that is if Boise went undefeated in a power conference. We won't be able to see that, however.
2 - What about those of us who don't even want a playoff much less think we "deserve" one?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
College football learned this lesson in 1984. I don't really understand why the fuck we're even debating it now. It's ridiculous to me that in the disguise of "fairness" and what a team "deserves" you end up with the advocating of the precise opposite.

Boise State certainly isn't playing a "fair" schedule vis a vis an Ohio State or Alabama. Why should Ohio State have to beat as many as 5 ranked teams whereas Boise State need only squeek past Virginia fucking Tech and then run the table against teams Ohio State schedules as cup cake wins?

Deserve. Boise State deserves NOTHING. They will get what they EARN. Nothing more, nothing less.

don't use "we". I don't want a playoff. If there was a playoff these early season games wouldn't be as exciting. See week 1 of the NFL this week.

I am not 100% sure which team was being referred to, but I remember the Boise State coach slamming the Big Ten because there were teams with open dates, but no one would schedule them.

If in fact it was OSU, we had a chance to get them on the schedule. Pretty sure with the expansion going on at that time, we needed flexibility in the schedule and that is why it didn't happen. Really, which one looks better; an OOC game vs. Boise State or a conference opener with OSU at Nebraska?

I guess what I am getting at is yes, we can only play the team in front of us, but the powers that be put those teams there.
