It just pisses me off that a team can win it's first game of the year and there's even a discussion about going to the national championship game. You won't hear that if we beat Cryami's, you won't hear it if Alabama beats Penn State, and you won't hear it if FSU beats Oklahoma. We've all been assuming we'd get a playoff because a non automatic qualifier gets left out of the MNC, could the origin of a playoff be that a non automatic qualifier gets in to the MNC?

I'm just trying to come up with a reason to agree with GulfScott that Boise is a NC opponent to want to avoid: even that one didn't really work for me, crystal footballs are crystal footballs.

To me they're like Gonzaga in basketball, I don't really hate them I just get sick and tired of the media creaming themselves over them. And I get tired of the "woe is us no one will play us we'll always be Cinderella" bullshit too. Make up your fucking minds...either you are CInderella or you aren't. If you are, then congrats, you're a mid-major who occasionally beats a reasonably good team, but you don't play enough good teams to merit consideration with BCS conferences. If you are not, then your schedule sucks because you play in a shit conference, and going undefeated is what you expect, not some miraculous task that warrants recognition as the best sports team since the 1927 New York Yankees. Ask Auburn, Penn State, West Virginia, and all the other teams about getting shut out of titles and title games after going undefeated in the regular season. What they need is a tall glass of STFU.

Oregon State could give Boise trouble, seeing as they won't have 7 months to prepare like they did for Va Tech.

And fuck the end of this game, a great battle marred to two official fuck ups. B10 refs...jesus christ. I was expecting Hightower to make an appearance. And, before this is brought up, I'm not complaining about the whole game, I'm complaining about the way the end of the game(s) are officiated. Boise gets a questionable late hit call (Didn't affect anything, wasn't dirty, "letter of the law" versus "spirit of the law" issue) and doesn't give the same benefit to Va Tech on the pass interference.

And Musberger was awful today, a total Boise homer. Talking them up in the first quarter, "calling out" the coaches for "only" ranking them 5th (??!?!?) and talking National Championship at the end of the first regular season game. Totally unprofessional, he's absolutely going to be fucking impossible this year.

That's because they play a 2 game schedule against mediocre AQ teams. The ONLY game that BSU has ever won that I've been remotely impressed by is the beating that they put on Oregon. That was a great game. Beating OU? Shit, everybody beats OU in BCS game. Beating Oregon State? Pfft, they lost to Penn State last year. They beat TCU? Congratulations, you won the cripple fight.

I don't think BSU would beat Michigan. There, I said it. I think scUM could beat Boise, and I think scUM is, at best, a 9 win team. Boise State is less deserving of a BCS bid than the Big East winner, and that's saying a hell of lot about the quality of their schedule.

They're Voltron-Tebow...85 players come together to form one all powerful media darling. It's vomit inducing.

They beat a pretty good team tonight, now they waltz to the BCS title game and VT goes on to lose their usual 3-4 games...

Again, they aren't in a major conference, but they play a big OOC game every year. Keep in mind, they beat PAC 10 winner Oregon last year too.

I just don't know what you say to them....? Everyone keeps knocking them, but they seem to answer every challenge. They deserve some credit.

Such a well-coached squad that seems to play the right way....don't see the hatred for them.

Well, I for one am done taking away from what these guys do in their big games. You're right, they're well-coached, they have good players and they rise to the occasion. My objection to Boise State is that they don't have to rise to the occasion as often as the other contenders. The most succinct way I could put it is, a team like Ohio State would get pounded all season in the media if their first four games were as weak as Boise State's last eleven.

Remember after The game in '06 how Herbie was clamoring for a rematch of OSU and Mich in the title game? Never happened. Watch Boise's rankings come tomorrow, if they are not in the top two in the AP, I don't see how any logical person could make the argument that they have punched their ticket to the title game.
