MANHATTAN, Kan. ? Bob Huggins is going home to West Virginia. After one season at Kansas State, Huggins resigned yesterday to become the men?s basketball coach at West Virginia.

Although Kansas State appreciates what Huggins accomplished in one season, the Wildcats clearly weren?t happy with his decision to bolt.
In Tim Weiser?s mind, the Bob Huggins "era" at Kansas State should have lasted longer than 378 days.
If the Wildcats athletic director had an idea Huggins might have bolted after only one season for West Virginia ? his alma mater ? a glum Weiser said he probably wouldn?t have pursued the likely Hall of Fame coach. "This was not the time," said Weiser, failing to mask the hurt at a Manhattan news conference.

If Kansas State wanted him longer, they should have put a large buyout clause in his contract. $100,000 is meaningless as a buyout these days.

Huge amounts should be standard for them, trying to get people to stay in their version of Manhattan.

With regard to Patterson, Beasley, and Walker all joining Huggy Bear that West Virginia, a lot of that is going to depend on how many scholarships they have available and how many players John B. signed in the early signing period. I am too lazy to look all that stuff up:)

I think that they probably thought nobody else wanted, or would tolerate him, and maybe that's why they did not put a big buyout clause in his contract.

Just imagine their outrage when Huggins' WVU team is beating the tar out of UC the next few years.

I don't know if he can recruit, but Kennedy did a nice job of coaching a "cupboards bare" team this year. And there haven't been any pictures of him wobbling in front of the police cruiser or sipping champagne with an NBA signee just weeks after finishing rehab.

I think you mean Mick Cronin, Kennedy was last year.
