Bitching about the 2004 Season

kippy my man, I can't have you bumm'in like this.

I think you just needed to read a little closer to see where I was going on this little rant. From the title itself, World War Iii was put up as in "I-Yi-Yi." And I prefaced the thread with giving all those who know me the chance to take it for what they thought it was worth. It was pretty funny late saturday and I even posted farther down that you can take anything and turn it to a negative. Maybe some tried to "analyze" the points, I expected more to "rip me a new one" and even had Sloopy agreeing with my points that were made in jest. (Sorry Sloop, but you still da'man.)

If someone such as, say, Tibor had posted this, he would have gotten crucified. I can honestly say that I never have and never will post a single negative thing about this program and those involved with it. As far as Tressel goes, he gave me the greatest sports thrill of my life two years ago, and I'll always be he first to defend the difficulty that goes with running a high profile team like this one because you always have a big scarlet bullseye on your back. I'm not naive enough to think that this team will be in the running for a NC every single year. All I want is for the team to be a serious contender for the Big Ten title every year. As a TOSU fan, that is NOT too much to expect.

My real concern with JT is that at some point in time, the offense has got to emerge. I love the idea of putting a great defense on the field, but not to the point that the punt return is your greatest offensive weapon. As far as the coach himself, He's the best thing thats happened here since the 1978 Gator Bowl. I support the guy and hope he's here for the next 20 years. Personally, I think the guy would quit if he ever thought his efforts were not what this school deserves.

I have a bad feeling that we may get those five losses this year. But, as I posted in another thread, Tressel had a team go 3-8 the year after he had his four-year national title game run, and was back in the national title game two years after that.

Okay Dubs, I here ya now and its a little more clearer when I go back and read the thread bearer again. It seems we all have tendencies to be frustrated over things like this.

Sometimes i wonder were Ohio State would stand right about now, if we still had MoC. I know maybe i shouldnt have said that, but i brought it to mind when I read what alot of you said about Clarett making an offensive line really look good. I wish we could have played Erik Haw but for some reason he was red shirted.

Another thing i read in another thread was "this years offensive line is alot leaner and even more athletic and maybe that theory has gone "Hiroshima" in our face". I think that has some valid points and we could very well go 7 and 5. If we do, i will survive and move on. I just believe in Tressel so much. Ive seen him up close and personal so many times at Youngstown State. The season that he went 8 - 3, was a calling from a lot of YSU fans that the "Tressel Train" had come to the end of the Terminal. But 2 years later he got another N/C in 1997.

John Cooper always had great offensive lines in his tenure and we were confident - until the Michigan games. It was sad to see that happen. Now everything is reversed on the offensive side of the ball and we have a National Championship justs 2 years running under Tressel. This one really has me baffled. I think that this is a good thread for all of us to dig into and read. It has much truth in it. Thanks guys for the great input here. :oh: :io:

Its all good, my man. I replied to that on Saturday night. I was so pissed off at Tressel and the team, that I would've agreed with you if you said, "Move the team to Bullprick, Arizona."

Looking back, a lot of my replies that night were dumb as shit.

AKAK: "Well--- I didn't want to say anything... but yeah."

No question. I am your typical irrational fan after a loss. Plus, I'm under a lot of stress lately, and that loss broke the rationality dam in my mind.

As long as I get a pass, its all good.

As your punishment you will get to post one fewer time about how damned great the Yankees are than you normally would....

Thus I calculate... with that post off the normal total... we should have only 167 'Yankees Rule' posts this week alone.

And You may not refer to the "Curse of the Bambino" until the Yankees win one ALCS game.

Done. I gotta tell ya, I am PUMPED for tonight's game. I live in a town right over the CT/NY border. So while New York is split between Yankees and Mets fans, Connecticut (and my city) is split between Yankees and Red Sox fans.

Everyone is going to be in town tonight. Its gonna be like a holiday: all the businesses will be shut down, and the bars/restaurants will be a-rockin'. Let the games begin!

Troubling quote from luncheon

http://ohiostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=341605

The part that I found the most troubling is that Jt said that he thought Rob Simms played his best game of the season thus far, yet he still did not grade out at a winning performance.

Is this the result of poor OL coaching, a failing blocking scheme, or is it a personnel issue?

When one of your returning starters has yet to grade out a winning performance on the season, that is not a good sign.

I believe they said that mangold graded out at a winning performance.

last week both kne and mangold graded out at a winning performance. so it sint out of the question that a winning grade is given in a loss.

the problem is that your best performance of the season doesnt grade out as a winning performance.

These are kind of the smae thing.. but I tend to think its partly the Caoching... AND:

or is it a personnel issue?

A lot of this.

Edit: And Experience... generally... but Sims specifically has palyed, so I don't want to make excuses for him... but unit cohesiveness might be a problem and that effects them all.
