See Di, that's the precipice I am on right now....i want to say no that it is due to lack of quality. Hell Mike Kne is a former walkon...tough kid who deserves his schollie but a former walk-on starting at a program like tOSU is telling. Coop left the cupboard bare with OL when he left. Sooo....that leaves part of me thinking that Bollman is using the scheme that he feels best fits the personnel...but that isn't working nor has it been. So part of me is saying its Bollman but I also understand that the quality has been slim the past few years. OL recruiting is probably the biggest crapshoot in recruiting...when you start from scratch and some kids don't work out...that spells trouble

your comparisons with LSU are completely ignorant. Who the fuck is LSU? As Terry Glenn would say, there are nobody. I don't give a fuck if LSU won a title, and is now struggling. WE ARE BETTER THAN LSU. Ask yourself this, in the last 15 years, has scUM had a team as bad as teams we've fielded in 1999 and 2004? Nope. And neither should we. It's an absolute embarrassment.

I remember how poorly our off. line appeared to play last year, and yet two of those guys are starting in the NFL this year. Off. line coaching problem? Maybe.

I have to keep in mind that we have 3 seniors on offense and 1 on defense. We're YOUNG andINEXPERIENCED.

If I see Ross come to a complete stop one more time when he sees that there is about to be contact, I'm screaming so loud that they'll hear me in Columbus from Willoughby!

Football smarts

I am on the staff of a fairly successful D-III programin Ohio. No state championships, but a consistent record of league championships against tough competition and playoff wins(and a couple of well known Buckeye recruits), if not the whole enchilada. I respect the hell out of all the coaches on the staff of our school, and after watchingh theBuckeye offense-and discussing it plenty w/ all of the coaches on the staff-why in the hell can Tressel and Co. not see the same thing and make the same adjustments?!?! Sometimes it is execution, but sometimes it uis playcalling, and the guys on the staff constanrtly say this. Any other HS coaches out there reading this feel free to chime in- What does Tressel see/feel/think-that other coaches DON'T and NEVER WOULD!?!?

There were plenty of plays called by the coaches where there was an open receiver in the short routes and they were wide open, but Justin made a young error and tried to "hit the homerun pass". Thats a young kid making mistakes ... not coaching.

On Defense when it was 3 down for Wisconsin and long. The Linebackers gave up their coverage too early and then got "taken" out of place. Thats something you can teach in practice but the yojng players have to make the right decisions.

The lack of sustaining blocks is something you can teach til your blue in the face, but if you don't at least sustain those blocks it doesn't matter what your teaching.

Yes there may have been a few errors in the playcalling but what coach doesn't try different things and it doesn't work or you go back to the conservative old standby plays you have relied on in the past and been successful with. If you don't have the fundamentals down whats all the "right" playcalling, good or bad, worth ??

Come on guys, this board sounds very much like ND did last year (and you have a better team) from the o-line to a brand new QB. Now ND is by far from being great but the offense has made tremendous strides without a player like S. Holmes. Give your QB some time....

Nobody will deny that OSU needs to do something to impriove this truely sad offensive production, and yes the Coaches are partly responsible but you can coach and coach til your blue in the face. If the kids don't mature and make the right choices then its not worth crap. Anyone who thought OSU would not have some MAJOR growing pains this year after losing so many key players , then they had blinders on. Yes there has to be some major adjustments on offense but look at the playcalling today. There were some very good calls for passes and I was at the game. You could see a WR in the short routes wide open. Its the QB's immaturity. ALL new QB's have had major issues with the fast pace of the game. Justin has off the charts talents but his O-line has him running for his life at times. The O-line has its own issues. Likes someone said .. its a domino effect. Once all the growing pains are over and the Offense as a whole matures ... LOOK AT THE TALENT at every position this year, next year and there on ... Yea this year may be hard but its coming again.

"timely coaching adjustments" are exactly what we've been lacking this year...especially on defense...we've had that problem on offense the whole time during JT's tenure, but only now am I truly appreciating how good Dantonio was. Snyder may get there in due time, but right now he's taking his licks and learning. Right now I can see us possibly winning 3 more games for a 6-5 record overall and a 2nd tier bowl, neither of which should happen to a program like OSU. Anything better than that and I'll be happy.

The O-line and QB maturity are more of an issue than the Defense and Coach Snyders problems. They did good overall against Wisconsin but OSU can't expect to keep them out there all the time and then win every game each and every week. Yea Coach Tressel has said Defense, Special teams and no mistakes but thats not all "Tresselball" ,as so many like to call it, is about. He has also said he'd love to have a well balanced offense.
The O-line coaching is something that we as fans can be really critical of to date but even then you can coach and coach but if the kids are not sustaining blocks long enough then all the coaching in th world does nothing. I am not a Bollman fan on that note though.
there is still hope though. The kids will mature ... we shall see how that works out.

The team is young AND inexperienced. But are they getting better? In watching the game yesterday I have to say no. Coach always talks about getting better each week, yet the team seems to be getting worse.

This was an offensive team in disarray. Penalties and sacks and running great plays once and then putting them away, for good.


I certainly don't have any answers. That's why I'm here. But I feel that the team took another giant step backwards yesterday, and I don't see the coaching staff doing much to change that. That's what concerns me.
