Bitching about the 2004 Season

Apparently installing a radically different offensive philosophy is more than a 1-year process.

Great point for those of us (myself included) calling for radical change in the OSU offense.

It sure could be worse.

You could be coming off a NC, returning 15 starters, rated pre-season #3, and just missed losing your third game and droppping from the top 25 altogether.

You could be a fan of a school that is being led by the greatest coach in the history of the school, wincing every week as they spiral to the bottom of the Big Ten.

You could have just lost for the fifth straight year to your #1 rival and gotten shut out in the process (and losing to that team by an average of 27 points per game during those 5 games).

You could be a fan of one of the legendary programs of college football history like Alabama, Nebraska, or Notre Dame and wondering when it will ever turn around.

Or you could be two years removed from a NC with a team rebuilding from sending 14 players to the NFL and coming off a loss to a team that returns 17 starters and starts 12 Seniors and is probably flat out better than you are and yet know that if you had not lost a star RB to the most absurd of circumstances you would likely be 5-0 and in the top 5 in the country.

It could be one hell of a lot worse.

This O-line is not as good as a poor MAC line. I love on a role out the QB gets hit before he turns. Please don't say Smith would be better, because with this line I don't care if you can run it doesn't matter if you get hit so soon.

Not sure if it is our OLine is not as good as a poor MAC line or if it is our coach is not...

Whenever I feel pessimistic it helps to think about teams that have it much worse. Take SMU for example. They had 4 consecutive 10 win seasons. Two years later they get the death penalty and go 49-116-3. They are now arguably the worst team in collegiate football. Some would argue they got what they deserve, but at some point you have to draw the line. Their program has been a wreck for two decades.
