I am currently living in la Fayette, Georgia. Where can I catch some Buckeye action down here in the south? The closest town is Chattanooga, TN. The only cable supplier here is Comcast and I doubt that they will carry big ten games. Please if ANYONE has any suggestion, feel free to offer your help to a Buckeye brother!!!

I don't know for sure if this is going to work. But it's what I'm banking on, at the moment. Go to Buffalo Wild Wings. Click "locations." It looks like there's two in Chattanooga, TN. Find whichever one is closer to you. It should have a phone number for that location. Call them up and see if they get that channel. You might want to wait until Friday to call, as they might not think they get that channel, since that channel won't exist until Friday. Ohio State should be on channel 218, according to people on this thread.

If that location doesn't have it, try the other. If that doesn't work, find somewhere else that has Direct TV.

Good luck!

Find a local sports bar (or friend) that has DirecTv. I'm going out of town this weekend so I called a few sports bars in the area I'll be to find one that would be showing the game.

I guess it depends on the price. Who won the negotiation standoff? btw, How large is Insight compared to Comcast or TW?
From their Who We Are Page.

We may be small compared to the ?giants? in the cable industry like Time Warner and Comcast (who is a 50% partner of ours).

Define Irony.
They serve 1.3 Million customers - with Internet and/or Cable.

Insight has signed with BTN!

From a post on the O-zone:

Big Ten Network, Insight reportedly reach deal
Wednesday, August 29, 2007 2:13 PM
By Bob Baptist
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Big Ten Network and Insight Communications have agreed to terms on a contract, a source familiar with the negotiations said this afternoon, clearing the way for Insight cable subscribers in central Ohio to watch Ohio State's season-opening football game Saturday in the comfort of their homes.
A formal announcement could come later today.
Sports Business Daily is also reporting the agreement on its Web site. A Big Ten Network spokeswoman would not immediately confirm a deal. A message was left for an Insight spokesman.
Ohio State will open the 2007 season against Youngstown State at noon in Ohio Stadium. The game is expected to be one of three or four OSU games, including the Sept. 8 game against Akron, that will be carried on the new network, which launches programming at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The network will be part of Insight's "expanded basic" service that also includes ESPN, the source said. The channel number was unavailable.
Prior to the agreement, central Ohio fans' only option for watching the game was via satellite provider DirecTV.
Insight is the second-largest of three cable providers in central Ohio. The other two, Time Warner and WOW, have not come to terms with the Big Ten Network
In its first year, the network plans to televise 39 Big Ten football games, 140 men's basketball games, 55 women's basketball games and 170 other sports events. At least seven and possibly a dozen or more Ohio State men's basketball games will be shown exclusively on the network.

Somebody blinked....

Good for the customers of Insight. Looks like every subscriber will get to see the game no matter if they have a set-top box or not. This is unlike Time Warner who wants to put the channel in a tier where every customer would have to rent a digital box for every tv they would like to get the channel on.

:biggrin:Just talked to my Insight customer service rep and while he did not give me the specifics he believes that the BTN came down in their asking price as they get closer to launch date. The agreement was reached around 3:30 per the rep.Channel 26 and channel 5xx (sorry I forgot the HD channel) Yahoo!

I will admit that Insight probably serves more customers outside of the state of Ohio but I has to think that this is going to put a lot of pressure on Time Warner and Comcast. Insight was one of the first cable companies to sign on with Sports Time Ohio last year and the others soon followed so there is hope for you Time Warner and Comcast customers.
